Haven't seen the rookie game, but have seen tons of Kadri... and Eric Staal is an awful comparison.

I'd compare Kadri to a cross between Kane and Tucker. He's got Kanes speed, stickhandling, creativity, shot and arrogant attitude and he's got Tuckers grit and ability to level guys with checks as well as piss off the opposition by getting into their heads.

If I were to make a couple of premature statements, from what stood out to me:

1) McKegg and Olden are steals where we drafted them. 1st round talents all the way.
2) Mueller, D'Amigo, Irwin are going to have a tough time surprising in camp this year - they likely need some time in the AHL.
3) Gysbers is a much better prospect than I thought he was.

Overall anyone being too negative about this game is being pretty silly - we just whupped the apparently "stacked" chicago rookie team, with a younger team than they iced. Solid start to the rookie tourney.

But again - calm down guys. This is scrimmage-quality hockey out there.
I agree with everything you said other then Mueller. I thought he was one of the better rookies on the ice for both teams. I see him having a very good chance to surprise at leaf camp this year.

everyone is talking about how bad Kadris attitude is, even though it appears that he is just confident in himself, should be glad that kyle beach is not a leaf or ever would be. that guy has an attitude problem

also, i see sam carrick as having a similar path a john mitchell. a mid to late round pick, playing in the O and exceeding expectations. Never am i saying they are similar players, just similar paths

1) there is no evidence he has a big ego, thats just you trying to find something to complain about. He is confident and Being confident is what makes someone a great hockey player.

2) He makes players around him better and has always had more assist then goals which goes against your "poor team play theory.

Here's how I saw it. Out of 10, 10 being good. Everyone made mistakes though. I thought the team blew their load in the first and came back late in the third.

Olden-8.5 Kid was fastest player on the ice. Shifty. Smiles waaay to much.
Gyspers-8.5 Was solid
Mueller-8 Everywhere. Made some great plays, and can see the ice very well.
McKegg-8 NIce goal and was very good along boards.
Ross-7.5 Pugnacious. Show great patience on goal.
Baron Smith (cool name) 7.5 Was solid and moved the puck well except for once.
Jackson-7.5. Man, this kid is good. Where the hell did we get this guy?
Carrick-7.5. He carried the puck well on rushes and dished of nicely.
Crascenzi-7.0. Nice hitter and making a statement.
D'amigo-7.0. He did well, nice nose for the net. Didnt click with Kadri at all.
Rynnas-7.0 Struggled alot in first, fighting the puck then stole the show later.
Holzer-6.5 Not that impressive but did ok
Ryan-6.5 Nice goal.
Kadri-6.5 but should have been much higher. Tried to hard to impress and backfired.
Devane-6.0 Not strong enough on boards at all, anyone else see this?
Mitchell-5.0. He did not impress me much.
Irwin-4 or lower. He gave the puck away countless times and didnt use his frame.

Didnt really get a good read on anyone else. Feel free to add.

Olden made a case for himself, but needs to keep shining. There is an outside chance he can make the team if he does this every night including camp. That forces Wilson to make a good or bad decision one way or the other.

Did anyone elso notice Rynnas's stick is hardly ever square. That created so many crease problems and rebound control. Allaire should repair that problem though.

Passing was terrible and give aways were because of bad decision making, but overall I thought we played a solid game and plays were made when we needed to make them. I thought the forwards did a great job backchecking...Mueller being key. He broke up two 2 on 1's.

Liked what I saw for the most part, though the game was a bit boring after the 1st period.

Rynnas was quite good minus playing the puck in the no-play zone and that Kyle Beach goal, showed some shades of Gustavsson tonight. Kadri was a bit disappointing.

Mueller stood out quite a bit, only 1 assist but he was hitting EVERYTHING, forechecking hard, playing well along the boards, creating lots of offense. Him and Irwin together created a good combo.

Holzer was ROCK ****ING SOLID, great positionally, shut down numerous Chicago forwards, rarely made any mistakes, and overall was great defensively. Also showed a bit of his passing skills here and there. Loved what I saw from this guy.

Our defense overall was great. Holzer Gysbers and Blacker stood out the most for me.

Offense was good too. Olden was great in the first period but somewhat slowed down after that. Kadri had his moments (but was kind of disappointing). You could tell he was frustrated with how he was playing and wanted to have his name on the scoresheet. Ross, McKegg both showed great hustle and went to the net. Jerry D'Amigo was great as well. And as said before, Mueller stood out quite a bit, guy was a ****ing beast all over the ice, can't wait to see more of him.
I didnt see him like that at all. As a matter of fact, in my opinion, I thought Gyspers was our best D and Jackson and Smith did very well.

Agree with everything else though.

Overhandling the puck is not a sign of poor character, but rather style of play, your inability to differentiate between the two is humorous.
