30 in 30: Panthers overview

So NHL.com is doing an overview of all 30 teams in 30 days and the Panthers were up on Saturday.
Here is the link: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=535625

That's a pretty optimistic overview, but I think most of us are already prepared for a "Not this year" mentality.

IMO our slogans more like "maybe next season..." or "Here's to another lottery pick!"

I didn't feel like creating a new thread... Bleacherreport published a Panthers report card.

http://bleacherreport*.com/articles/...orida-panthers
(remove the asterisk)

Quote:
Expectations and Prediction:

The Panthers are in the midst of another rebuilding season. They have given up on forward Nathan Horton, who failed to reach expectations since being drafted by the club. They have turned to a youthful core group of forwards and a very young group of defenders.

It is likely that goaltender Tomas Vokoun will be dealt by the trade deadline, and if not, will become a UFA at season’s end paving the way for prospect Jacob Markstrom. It will likely be a season of struggles for the Panthers as they will not score very often nor will they be able to keep the puck out of their own goal, especially in the early part of the season as their young defenders will need time to grow and mature.

Prediction: 15th in the Eastern Conference
TSN is doign something similar with their '30 teams in 30 days'. They have the Oilers at 30. We should be next.

Still wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see us in the playoffs. Who knows, after four years of being called a dark horse candidate for making the dance, predictions of finishing last might be a good omen.

Anything is possible. But I would call it a miracle.

It also fails to mention Allen or Garrison on defence. They pencil in Elerby in the top four which I think is highly unlikely. Garrison will be a solid player for us this year me thinks.
Also I don't think we will be 15th in the east although a high pick would be nice.

Although, didn't they have us higher last season, and we finished with the 3rd overall? I think it was that way. Which could mean we finish dead last next season, or we finish in a playoff spot. This team has no formula.

Correct. We were supposed to finish somewhere around 15th place overall.

Wow. Looking of some of those predictions last year make me absolutely amazed compared to what actually happened in the standings They're overall accurate, but seeing Phoenix, Colorado, and Ottawa, whom both made the playoffs so far down and Carolina, Anaheim, Columbus, Minnesota, us, and Edmonton predicted to be in the playoffs shows that anything can really happen when it comes to predictions compared to reality.
