Yep, was cut from rep cause some kids mom wrote a complaint to the organization about him not being picked for the team.

Back in peewee league, our coach gave more ice time to his dim-witted, puck-hog son instead of anyone else. That's all I can think of. He wasn't even above average, let alone "worthy" of more shifts.

One time a certain conservative political candidate had the terrible idea of dropping the puck at a game in Philly

When I was a Bantam I wasn't picked for the A team because the coach wanted all his son's friends to be on it. It was absurd, I was the best Bantam aged player in the town (Not a particularly impressive accomplishment with context) and I wasn't on the A team. Me and a few other players who got screwed would skate circles around the A team when we shared practice ice, and our coach would actually ask for scrimmages between the teams. The A coach always declined.

Unfortunately, you see politics even at the youngest level. Last season, the organization I coached for wanted to ice two Squirt teams. So tryouts were held, with the notion that we'd have one A and one B team. However, the tryouts ended up playing no role in the formation of the teams, and instead we iced two poor A teams and the kids suffered for it.

In house, there were only 3 coaches for the 4 teams, so the director of youth hockey coached a team. Somehow that team got stacked with the best players......

Speaking of politics I hear stories all the time about a local travel team in my area. Coaches being red-carded, Moms sleeping with other kids on the team, Parents giving large sums of cash to coaches so kids can be on the team. That kind of stuff.

I doubt it isn't unique to my region stuff like this probably goes on in every state and Province around the world.
