Dany Heatley, after asking for a trade publicly for the 3rd time in 8 years

on a serious note though, With Salo and Burrows going on LTIR Vancouver as no rush to dump anyone, so one of the other 4 over teams overcapped (exclute T.O.) are gonna move someone out, either a salary dump or significant trade, we'll see

New York is assumed to be dumping Redden. Boston has Sturm on IR and will dump Ryder when he comes back (or some other dump). The Leafs will likely have a dman in the minors, Finger makes the most sense.

So that really leaves Vancouver, NJD and Calgary.

Vancouver currently has 6 dmen making over 3M and 8 over 1M so something will get done there. Common thought seems to be Bieksa.

Calgary will likely try and move a dman too, although they don't really have a ton of overpaid salary.

NJD will move a forward. Likely Zubrus since Rolston is basically impossible to move.
any trade to be made with the ducks? flames fans??

Rozi is the most tradeable (really the only one, given Drury's nmc and Redden's abysmal showing these past few years and abominable cap hit) of the Rangers' bad contracts and his game picked back up at the end of the season. Also, his salary is in decline ($4 mil then $3 mil) while his cap hit remains at $5 mil. Problem is, Rangers don't want their defense to get too young, too fast. He could be dealt, but I forsee, instead, Redden doing his worst impersonation of Ratso Rizzo at the end of Midnight Cowboy , except that he'll be dying on the bus to Hartford, not California. Cue the music for Everybody's Talkin' At Me.

NJ will make a trade with their minor league affiliate - sending Salvador and Zubrus there for nothing. In return NJ will pick up their salaries - a combined 6.3 million.

Add this to the cost of getting Kovy:

Johnny Oduya
Niclas Bergfors
Patrice Cormier
1st round pick

plus

3 million in fines
1st and 3rd

=

Kovylchuk for

15 years and 100 million
plus 22 million (6.3 for Salvador and Zubrus to play in the minors the next 3 years + 3 million fine)
Oduya
Bergfors
Cormier
2 1sts
3rd.

I'd say that completes a pretty big trade.

Here are a couple moves that make sense to me -

To NJ: Machacek
To ATL: Zubrus

To Edm: Commodore
To CBJ: Souray

To Ana: Sarich
To Cal: Marchant and Festerling

To TB: Bieksa
To Van: Wright and 2nd

To Car: Salvador
To NJ: 5th

To SJ: the rights to Paul Ranger
To TB: Conditional pick

To SJ: the rights to Niskanen
To Dallas: Greiss and 3rd

IDK, just a few ideas

Someone, likely a team in cap hell, will trade the caps a good tough defenseman or a second line center. We have lots of prospects, but we've traded or let go most of the ones i liked, so I could give a rats ass what they send in return. In terms of roster players, fleishmann has got to be on the block.

i have a feeling the Rangers do something trade wise. either way they send Redden down to solve that problem.

I predict the next 2 BIG moves will come via the caps and they will come at or near the deadline.

Those moves will be 2 of the following

Rybon Regher Brad richards or Tomas Vokoun either of these moves make sense

Richards allows to the caps to have 2 #1 lines placing backstrom with ovechkin and Richards with semin

Regher solidifies the D

and Vokoun fills their one weakness a legit #1 goalie.

the caps will be HUGE players at this years deadline because they gotta win and if they don't win this year their contract situation will get ugly with backstroms extensionb kicking in, semin needing a new deal and after next year green needs a new deal

More than likely, a salary dump out of New Jersey.

But hopefully, a defender coming to Anaheim.

You've "thrown it out there" 3 times in this thread. We get it.

Really? Why is that? Sather with the Rangers hasen't made too many trades involving picks, or top prospects.

Canucks are under, technically 3.1 but they have 2 mil on LTIR and another 3.5 in Salo who may never return
