How can you misspell his name so badly when you just read an article where it was in the headline?

What the hell is with the Smiley face? The best we can hope for now is that our two best (and highest paid) d men will be coming off injuries to start the season, if they're even playing. Worst case is we start the season with more than 11 million dollars missing from the lineup. Great.

Edit- Good job taking the smiley out of the OP.

I genuinely do not understand the HATE for Hamrlk out there. He's our second best defencman and without him filling n top minutes last year when Markov was down we'd have not even made the play offs.
Shame on any so called fan for being happy ANY Hab player is hurt, especially one as good as Hamr.

Makes you wonder who the fan base really is sometimes.

Why smile - although he was awful in the playoffs, we was great in the first half of the season (probably the reason he was bad in the POs as we was gassed). If Markov is out for the beginning of the season we need Hammer to be awesome.

Please spend an extra 2 seconds spelling the players name right.

I'm not happy he's hurt, but I think he is greatly overrated by many people here, and I don't buy the "without Hamrlik we don't make the playoffs" idium.

It showed in the playoffs that his play has slipped greatly and he simply isn't worth his salary and it's too much to pay a 4th or 5th dman.

It's needed to counteract all the idiots who think he's the worst defenseman in the history of the league.

Also, you know why his play slipped in the playoffs? He was gassed from being our #1 defenseman for half a season. It's not rocket science.

Overrated? He gets bashed all the time on here because he makes $5.5 million if anything he's underrated and underappreciated around here. He played too much during the year for a guy his age which is why his play slipped as the year went on and is overpaid but he's still our 2nd best defenseman (Subban will likely change that quickly) and is a huge part of our team.

Horrible news. Especially if Markov isn't ready. Especially seeing as this will totally expose Price and leave him on his own out there to a degree. Not good.

OP, I hate to say this but I'm embarassed to be part of the same fanbase as you. Just plain wrong to be happy for anyone's injury.

Sadly....you're blind if you don't see that Hamrlik is our 2nd best defencemen and him stepping up and playing 25+ minutes for most of the season while Markov was out DEFINITELY helped the Habs make the playoffs. There is no denying that at all.

I wish people would stop hating players because they are a little overpaid. Thats just the way it is....UFA's get contracts that are overpayments....thats the only way you land great UFA's like Hamrlik.....but its no reason to hate the player or say that he's worse than he really is.

He was horrid against the Caps in some games. He admitted it publicly and addressed it himself making no excuses. He then rebounded and played some solid all around games. You must have missed those games.

The OP is clearly one of the posters out here who think they know more about the game than coaches and management. He's happy with the prospect that the Dman who carried us through the better part of last season and was a warrior in the playoffs might be out for a period of time in the hopes that one of the minor leaguers might be able to step up. What he fails to realize is that Hamrlik is probably the best possible Dman to play with a young player that comes up. Unfortunately there is a portion of our fanbase that is always looking for the unknown quantity to come up from the minors and be a star. In reality these expectations are always unrealistic and when the prospect fails he's a bum and immediately trade fodder
