Beach from what I've seen has been a nonfactor. Morin has looked way better.
Big Mak?

Beach looks lazy at times. Cap problems aside he could legitimately use the experience in Rockford for a season

I'll echo the sentiments about Makarov being ready for the big team. His experience playing with pro's is working to his advantage. Beach would be better served getting big minutes in Rockford than limited minutes in the bottom 6 of the big club.

Kudos to the Hawks for streaming all of todays drills and scrimmages online.

It was far more enjoyable than having to check twitter and numerous other websites/forums for some opinion that may or may not be accurate.

Good job, Blackhawks.

They gonna archive any of the scrimmages? Was actually being productive with my day, but would love to form my own opinion on there play.

I did the 5K run and then stayed for the entire practice...didn't leave until about 2:30. I echo the sentiments about Makarov, as well as Piri. Both looked good! The former has a very good chance of a spot on the 3rd or 4th line.

After both scrimmages, the teams participated in a shoot-out. Kaner was really trying to impress the crowd as he did a pretty wicked spin move, but the puck got off of his stick, and he whiffed...LOL!

The red team won both scrimmages (notable players on that team were Seabrook, Toews, and Brouwer).

Makarov makes this team for sure. He's another hidden gem. 2nd round pick. We've been insane with picks in the second round. Keith, Bolland and soon to be "Mak Daddy"

From what you guys have said it does'nt sound like Beach is bringing it...which is disappointing to hear.

Turco supposedly got lit up 7-1. Not sure if it was him in the net for all the goals. But if it was I'm not too worried, since hardly anybody is playing next to a person they played with last year

Quote:
Twitter updates: game over
Scorers today: Hammer (2), Makarov, Cambell, Stalberg, bolig, and either Pisani or Brouwer
Team Black won. Hope Turco didnt get lit up for all of those???

One goal missing; final was 7-1

Oh and Cory Crawford was in net for Black apparently.

Taken from BlackhawksTwitter:
Big story at camp today seems to be Igor Makarov, who had another big day in the scrimmages.

I'd like to hear more about Makarov. I have been following online via Twitter, but I haven't been able to sit down and watch either the rookie tournament games or the scrimmages.

Kyle Beach scored a couple of goals today. As did Bickell.

Crawford continues to play well - 2 goals allowed in 75 minutes so far.

We are so deep on the wing. Makarov, Morin, Beach when he inevitably gets his **** together. Then we got brothers Hayes, Dido, Paradis, and Kruger. You just know at least one of those guys have to pan out.

As long as we keep the defense in tact, we'll be serious for a while.

Mak got an article about him on the Blackhawks home page

This looks accurate.

I'd prefer Kopy to be matched up against other teams bottom 6, but until Mak or someone prove they deserve that spot, I don't think we'd be able to do any better

I read today that he said he is comfortable with the possibility of playing in Rockford this year.

This is comforting because i had thought the escape clause in his contract was to protect him from having to play in the AHL/Rockford. So even if he doesn't make the club out of camp, he could still be an important contributor this year.

If he has a solid pre-season, do you guys think his development would be better served by staying with the big club or spending some time in the AHL getting some bigger minutes and adjusting to the NA game? He doesn't seem soft at all and has played with men for two years, so I'm not sure how much he'd get out of playing with Rockford other than gaining confidence. The cultural adjustment would seem to be much easier in Chicago.

Makarov is really throwing a wrench into these projections. I think if it comes down to Pisani versus Skille for a fourth line spot, we go with Pisani because of experience and ability to play the PK. It would suck if Skille never got a chance to play here, but then again, it would be because he never proved himself worthy of a spot in the lineup. All this competition is for the best after all.

Agree

Then we could turn around and trade him to a team that needs a young prospect and we get a G prospect...or we keep him till the deadline and trade him/keep him use him as depth

Amazing we still seem to be so deep

I think depending on how he develops we can afford to keep him and trade one of the older players before they start to decline and move him up. I think if another center prospect comes up in the next few years we can afford to even trade brower and sharp. Don't get me wrong I love sharp, I can just see him being moved before some of the others and makarov seems like he could potentially be a solid top 6 in a few years
