First Beer League Game Today

After taking a 6+ year break from hockey (roller), I started my quest to pick up ice hockey in March of this year. Some time later, I will play in my first organized ice hockey game today. I've played a decent amount of pickup and did some stick times. During a placement session for this league, I was placed in Division 2/ B league.

I'm really excited. Not sure what position I'll play and am along for the ride. I started out as a winger but have found recently I play more comfortably and at a higher level as an offensive defenseman.

Thanks to anyone that has answered my many questions and those that'll answer my future ones.

Any tips other than have the time of my life?

Just have fun. On D, just cover the point, keep the puck in the attacking zone and try not to let anyone get behind ya. Make sure you know what offsides is! Some roller hockey players aren't used to that. Don't pick your feet up too high and try to make your stride is more of a gliding motion. Try to avoid the 8 most common beginner mistakes. I come from roller as well, just got into ice not long ago--it's a blast.

I'm playing my first game in 11 years next week, it should be a gong show. Luckily i'm still a moderately quick skater so I should be able to keep up.

Already? It's mid-September. Most leagues don't start until beginning of Oct.

Really? I'm already on to my third game! Fall/winter is only 10 days removed from spring/summer league in van.
