What a stupid idea...."rift"? who came up with this crap?

These guys are all professionals, Hodgson wants whats best for his career...Gillis wants what best for his organization. Coho trained with Roberts and saw his own doctor...big deal. Everything is A-Okay. This isnt like contract negotiation stuff. This is both parties wanting the same thing. So everythign will work out okay.

You must be at least a bit worried that your credibility here is tainted somewhat.
Nope. Why would I care?

I would be very happy if he played Wednesday since I'm going, but I don't think he will play until Saturday. A good number of our vets are supposedly scheduled to play on Wednesday since they're all sitting out tomorrow.

Being unable to admit fault is not a sign of intelligence. Quite the opposite.

Be quiet.

Common sense is unpopular around here.

Declared pain-free and symptom-free Tuesday, Cody Hodgson seems healthy enough to play and his return appears imminent.

Hodgson, who won't play in either of the Canucks split squad games Tuesday, has said he wants to clear "one more step" before playing. But head coach Alain Vigneault said it's not injury related.

...

He suggested that final hurdle is conditioning and timing related. He has to get to a point where he feels ready to play.

"It's getting back into that training mode and game mode, that's what we're all aiming at now," Hodgson said.

"I feel I'm really close. It's just going to take a little bit of practice, here. We'll see how it goes.

"Timing wise, and stuff, I need to get in some practice, get with the guys. Do all the other stuff that's required to play games. You can't just be healthy and play games right away. You need to assimilate yourself in. That's the goal this week. It's to feel good, be healthy, do well in practice and play games."

Hodgson stopped short of saying the final decision on playing is his.

"It's a collaboration with the doctors and I, we talk every day, we talk after every practice," Hodgson said. "We see how things went and then we make an assessment."

The game for Hodgson to play appears to be Saturday at home against Anaheim. The Canucks have had the patience of Job in bringing Hodgson along this fall, so it wouldn't make sense to rush him back Wednesday. By Saturday he'll have had four days of skating with contact with the team before playing.

Pierre McGuire was just on off OTR when asked about will it ever work out for Hodgson in Vancouver he said, "yes"... that form the same guy who on July 1st freaked out over the Malhotra signing and saying Van has no spot for him haha. Ohhh Pierre.

He just said he thinks Rask will be the best goalie in the NHL next year!!!.

There is always so much assumptions or predictions that we base our preceptions on...

Truth is I looked at this team back in 2007/2008 preseason....I thought Burrows a quality hard working guy but I wanted someone who could score more....I didnt think he was going to make that roster to start the season......he proved me wrong..that year and showed me my assumptions...usually good were way off in his ability to score.

I hope the guys that have lambaste Hodgson have the guts to admit they were wrong if he lights up the world on this team.

The irony of all this is that Cody Hodgson is the ultimate character guy.

That's not so farfetched.

Rask was unbelievable last year...only guys i really see challenging him for top honors are Miller and Lundqvist.

Sort of depends on the definition of "best". He might have the best numbers next year, owing to Boston's stifling, boring play, but I would be shocked if his workload and actual play made him the best goaltender in the NHL.

Similarly, I would be shocked to see Luongo at the top of the statistical heap, just based on the style that Vancouver will play. He should be better, given that last year was an off year and the Canucks defense will improve (I assume). But the Canucks will probably still be shorthanded a lot.

"Best goalie in the NHL next yr" is well beyond far fetched. It is downright ridiculous.

In order to accomplish that he would have to play in quite a few games, no? So are we to presume not only will Schneider be moved, but Louie will become the backup to Rask?

I am getting a weird feeling of deja vu about how CoHo's camp has gone so far.

May I direct your attention to a Mr. Steve Mason. How'd his sophomore season go?

Those were pretty different circumstances. Mason was hung out to dry behind one of the league's worst teams with a handful of other players adjusting to life in the NHL.

Rask will sit in favour of a seasoned vet if he struggles, which is less likely behind one of the league's best defensive teams.

Either I'm totally lost, or you are mistaking Rask for Eddie Lack...

Tuukka Rask...Boston's goaltender of the (present and) future.

Don't buy it. There's not enough correlation between goalies to make me think that because one goalie had a bad 2nd year, another will.

There are waaaayy too many variables. I think Rask will be good... I don't think he'll be the "best" goalie in the NHL, but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility.

It's also not out of the realm of possibility that he'll have his struggles in his second year. Its difficult to live up to expectations. He had none last season and now he has a pretty high standard to live up too.

You just said above that you think he'll be top 3 at worst.
