Something tells me these self glossers are probably adult wrestling fans as well!
Probably. But I picture them as sad, middle-aged men who still live with their mothers and proudly wear their email badges as a sign of glory around their office place.
Ever seen the movie Big Fan? The Paul character? That's them.
Self glosser? If anything, it's the regular on-air guys that pump his tires. He gets, quite literally, like 4 minutes of airtime/ day. I can't imagine someone on for 4 minutes a day riles you up that much.
I'm fine with Wiz... it's just trivia (which I love). Don't make a show out of the guy or anything, but he's fine in his ridiculously limited role.
On a scale of 1-100 (lowest-highest) of what's wrong with The Team, Wiz is like... a 2. TGOR is in the 80's.
The Wiz is starting to remind me of Phil "Showkiller" Melanson. He started small, everyone at the station loved him and he slowly transformed in to a sideshow with no real talent but a boatload of attitude.

I won't say who it is, but one regular emailer (who may or may not have been mentioned already) is pretty much that.
At the SuperBowl party, he followed Jungle around like a lost dog and sat at the same table as Jungle and his family because he had no one else to sit with.

It was pretty sad
was that marko with a k? i know he was at the party.
Bell has bought Astral Media now if this deal gets the ok Bell would have to sell some radio stations so maybe that could mean the likes of the Team could be on the block.

Why would be have to sell radio stations?
When they took over CHUM they didn't. The team won't go anywhere especially when we get a CFL franchise. There is a market for sports radio in Ottawa.

There is only so many stations they can own per market if this deals happens they would own around 6 while i think the rule states they could own 3 or 4.

Rogers owns 5 and with the addition of Astral Media Bell would now own 8. If they had to axe some stations I would think it would be one of the many contemporary adult stations.

I miss the days when radio stations were privately owned and not just another piece of mass media conglomerates.
Oceania is at war wit Eurasia. Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia . . .

Pretty much this. Wiz started as this small sendup of the Seinfeld segment then he turned into this endless annoying soundbite then he did a massive voiceover thing, just brutal. There are too many guys on that station that try too hard. Glad to see Simpson is at 7 a.m. I can just tune in to Pierre at 8 then shut it down until 10 a.m. or so...Simpson is ok but again he just recyles stuff from other sources. They don't need him honestly and hopefully the station gets rebranded and they bring new blood in or just tie to the Toronto main TSN station or even co-opt the Montreal one.
The former Habs guy was great, he had insight and a nice calming voice...
When Simpson was first on I wasn't too keen partly because he seemed to talk too fast and monopolize the conversation.
.
But he has brought on some great guests and is worth a listen.I am just as happy to hear him on TGOR as Pierre who spends more and more time, like Don Cherry, telling us how right he was about this and that.
I actually think they have made huge strides on that station. TGOR is now much improved with some good geusts, actual sports talk and best of all, no more Jim Jerome.
I like the revolving door guests they have had on Sports Call allthough I agree, Studley is not the most inspiring.Whoever they had filing in for the first few minutes today though was pretty funny.
To be honest I find a lot of the on air personalities here more entertaining and original then the same old same old from the Toronto stations-such as Doug Maclean and the gang on sports net.
As for TSN, what's with the promotion of Mike Johnson as an "insider"?He must be related to someone with influence, otherwise its hard to fathom.
The station has been a LOT better with Jim gone and more sports talk.
Simpson is great, as is Ferraro. McGuire, McKenzie are solid, as is Galley, and like York as well. Still don't like Versage, but don't usually listen during his time slot so no big deal. He must be related to somebody there though to have kept his job during the latest cull, I have no idea what the station thinks he brings to the listeners?
