McGrattan invited to Bruins camp

Didn't see it on the page, not a huge deal but could add some toughness for the B's

http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/...on:twit:bruins

Would be able to spell Thornton with Orr and Carkner in the division and the other "big boys" in the league.

Hmm, I suppose he could get a contract and be the 13th forward. He'd be a healthy scratch most nights unless the Bruins are playing a tough team. It should help to have him for the games against the division teams that have heavyweights like Orr and Neil.

He's a good fighter but not a very good enforcer. He'll fight with the other team's heavyweight but that's it. He won't go after anyone else.

Fine with me, keeps Lucic/Chara or even Thornton/Stuart from having to deal with them.

I agree. If he made the team then that's fine because he could spell Thorton, but I'd rather a real ******* to do to other teams best players what happens to the B's best players. I'm tired of teams like Philly destroying our centers. The Bruins already have "tough" guys, who can actually play; they need a ******* not another fighter. Please keep in mind I'm not saying that I want any of that stuff in the game(in fact I wish there were serious suspensions up to and including years instead of 2 games), but if it does happen I'd rather it be to another team instead of mines.

With McGrattan to take care of the heavyweights, Lucic and Thornton won't have any excuse to avoid fighting and they have to dominate the middleweights.

Very respectable, but sadly for him it's not what the coaches would probably want from him. I liked him in Calgary, best of luck to him.

If he does this from time to time he'll be loved here. Takes the load off of Thornton and Looch.

Not to mention he'll be a good mentor along with Reich to the young guys MacDermid and Marchand, both of whom can really fight.

Better to have a goon taking up that 13th forward spot, than having a guy like Colborne in the press box.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic. So I'll comment both ways just in case.

I'd rather have a goon than Colborne so that he can get his minutes in and play in the AHL. I still think Joe will be fighting for a spot for the team. But if he doesn't make it, it'll be good for him to spend time in the AHL.

Gratton, I expect him to light a fire under the goons we have.

If he does what, not show up?

Fixed.

That's exactly what I meant. No point in healthy-scratching a good prospect night after night, when he could be playing.

McGrattan seems to have lost his edge after his Senators days.....he used to go out on the ice to kill. Not so much anymore.

Good thing for Bruins

I think that's a great thing for the Bruins, he can fight. He will help make sure the B's don't get bullied by Colton Orr and the rest of the heavyweights in the Northeast, haha.

I remember him from his days in Ottawa and his numerous fights with Toronto tough guys. He's quite the fighter, top 3 in the league in my opinion.
