Mike Ribeiro is immensely talented and was not given a fair shake by the fans or the organization - in my opinion. The Nieuwendyk regime in Dallas is committing the same mistake if they intend to shop him around.

Right now, I'd say Scott Gomez, although most of the hate comes from his contract and not from the player himself. Other than that, I always liked Price, and felt that the Halak trade was justified.

If we go back in time, there are quite a few players I liked that weren't particularly popular, Russ Courtnall, Malakhov, Yanic Perreault. And I don't understand what Kostopoulos and most of all Koivu do on some lists. Saku was well respected.

Alex kovalev seems the obvious answer to me, followed by hamrlik, spacek and metropolit.

Wasn't Kovalev a fan favourite? I loved him.

How is Alex Kovalev unpopular or widely unliked? Or Metropolit? Hamrlik and Spacek have far more supporters than haters too.

yeah whatever ... hahah ... do you really need me to dig up any posts, you go ahead and facepalm your own post.

kovalev was a 50-50 debate, at best. Metropolit was hated up until last year. again, feel free to have a look in the archives.

as for hammer and spacek, what has been written recently on here about them hasn't been positive, thought I'd label myself as a supporter of them both.

nothing more to it, nothing to argue about.

I'm a "Breezer" fan all the way. I couldn't have said it any better than you about his critique and mental toughness.

I should also add Hamrlik and Spacek to my list of favorite not-so-favorite Habs since I have their jerseys hanging behind me too.

Mark Streit when he was a nobody. He became popular and I didn't like him as much

Josh Gorges when he was just "A thrown in", but now he's popular, but still like him.

Lars Eller, until everyone forgets about Halak and like him, then he'll be popular and I won't like him as much.

Don't wanna beat a dead horse, but Carey Price.

He has support on the hockey boards, but in the general population? The hate for him is mindless and ridiculous.

On these boards all players are hated at some point. Some for e longer than others. Just watch, Subban goes into a slump people will start trashing him. Mayrbe not outright hating but trashing. The three that come to mind most for me are 1- Janne Niiniima, he was hated because some people thought Gainey should've or could've gotten a real star for Ribeiro for some reason. 2- Pierre Dagenais. I think he was basically hated because he was slow and 3- Mathieu Dandenault- people expected him to be something he wasn't because he won some cups. But he gave it his all every night and was a solid performer.

I always loved Sergei ''Golden Hands'' Kostitsyn, i even bought a jersey of him with an ''A'' (assistant-captain) on the front

I used to like Grabovski a lot too

Current: Dustin Boyd, I really liked what i saw from him when he was in Calgary.

Going a long way back: Pierre Larouche. More recently: Riberio, a gifted player never allowed to use his gifts, Akost, a truly gifted player being forced square-scoring peg into round-all-purpose hole, and , yes, Grabowski, who has value. Add Lats, too, who demanded patience and got perverse mis-direction.

I'll add Francis Bouillon to the list. He struggled at times but wasn't as bad as people around here said. And the guy absolutely played his heart out every night, and out-hustled players that had six inches on him.
