This thread might be getting close to losing it's "sticky" status. There's 5-10 regulars from this thread that rarely post on HF anymore.

I've been drinking a lot of wine lately.

I think it goes better with food than beer, though I do like a nice beer during a cookout.

I usually go to one of the premium wine&spirits stores and look at what's on sale and see what the rating was on wine advocate.

I just picked up a 12 pack of pillar box red (89 points on wine advocate)

I'm a beer guy. When I first started drinking I hated beer. That's because in college people only drank Natty Light or if you wanted to be classy Bud Light haha. Once I discovered real craft beers, I was hooked.

I'm starting to get into home brewing and experimenting with different types of beer.

My fiance hates beer and is into wine so I am expanding my horizons with that. For our wedding in July, we made a Pinot Noir and a Riesling to serve at the reception at this place called Brew Kettle (we live in Cleveland). It was really fun and we made custom labels on the bottles for the wedding. It saved us money from buying wine too which made it even better.

Has anyone heard of/been to some new craft beer bar in the area, maybe in Fox Chapel? Sorry to be so vague, but I can't remember what it was called. Something kind of catchy like Brewtopia or something like that. I overheard a guy talking about it at D's a few weeks ago, but hadn't heard of it/have no reason to go to Fox Chapel.

My favorite summer lager has been and will remain Sierra Nevada Summerfest

I did get a six-pack of that a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed it. It was good to see there's still some lagers I can still enjoy. My taste for them has really diminished since I've been drinking all kinds of IPA's and such.

If I'm at a cookout, it has to be a lager. It's so easy to make Lagers taste bland. Bud, Miller, Corona, etc are awful. Pilsner Urquell, Harp, Birra Moretti, and the summerfest are usually can't-miss.

Yeah, my taste for lagers should increase alot now that summer is almost here. But I just can't really sit down and enjoy a Yuengling like I use to. Yuengling and Landshark are pretty much what I stick to when it comes to them. I will never spend any money on a Budweiser or Miller.

Hey Pens fans.....Jackets fan coming in peace....

I'll be in Pittsburgh next Tuesday through Friday for training for my internship....staying downtown at the Doubletree (which I believe is right next to the Consol). I'm 21 and want to know where the best place would be to drink and watch a potential game 7 on Wednesday night? Also, any other spots I should know about?

Thanks...

Head over to East Carson Street in the South Side. Literally 20 blocks of bar after bar.

Southside is a 3 minute cab ride. I'd very seriously just go there. There's not much around the arena.

A couple of good ones are Victory Summer Love and New Belgium Somersault. Both refreshing ales without being too wimpy.

Was up at Leech Lake, Minnesota this past week and tried a few new brews.

All were good, but should have gotten more of the Loch Leech Monster ale, it was the best of the bunch, very tasty. 47 degrees was a solid IPA, nothing mind blowing, but I'd definitely have it again. I've only got 4 pints of Walleye Chop left, which has a nice bitterness to it. If you're ever in the Walker, MN area, check them out (might be available in other areas too).

Deschutes' Twilight Ale is out. If it's available in your neck of the woods, I recommend it. In the next six weeks or so, they've got some new brews coming out that sound pretty tasty.

mmm...Deschutes

I'm pleasantly surprised at how drinkable of a beer Samuel Adams Boston Lager truly is all year round.

I first tried it last winter and here we are in the summer and it's pretty much all I've purchased/drank from our beer store. It really has become my go-to beer of choice.

It goes good with Cuban cigars too IMO if you don't have whiskey, scotch, etc. available.

Sadly no bars here in town have any Sam Adams so whenever the girlfriend and I hit the bars, I'll grab a Heineken without hesitation. Sure Heineken is so-so, but it sure as hell beats the crap out of all of the other watery, tasteless, crap served in bars. I.E. Molson Canadian, Coors, Budweiser, etc. Bleh.

Beer Nutz on Freeport Rd. Nice selection. You can put together your own 6 pack samplers. They also serve typical bar food and sometimes have live music. Not a bad place to go if you want to experiment w/ some new beers.

Sam Adams is the best of the widely available NA brewers, imo. I like most of their varieties.
