Not that bad, IMO. Way better than the actual name.

Possibly not the logo:

UPDATE: (12:10am)

We have just heard from another VERY reliable source that the information we had about this being the new Logo, which we got from someone who has been reliable with us in the past, might be wrong. We’ll look into it on Tuesday.

Rangers' ECHL coach Dean Stork with some clear comments:

“We’re definitely going to have a good relationship with the Rangers, but they have to work with us in Greenville as well,” Stork said. “Neil Smith has been involved with the Rangers (as general manager) and is now my owner, but there has to be a fine line on what talent they’re going to send us. They can’t send us their junk or I’ll have to find a different place for them to play. It’s the same with the Flyers. We’re just not going to be a deposit place."

“I worked out with (the Philadelphia Flyers) that we’re only going to get one goalie and one forward,” Stork said. “If he calls me in the next couple days and says he’s sending more, I’m going to tell him he’s going to have to find another place for them because the Rangers are my No. 1 affiliate and they’re who I’m going to look after.”

so it's a fake? Hartford Whale instead of Whales does seem strange. Even Whales on its own seems weird. Something like the Ice Whales would sound better. Or even better, the Mighty Whales of Connecticut.

Unfortunatlely, I think that only refers to the logo, not the name.

One interesting line combination Tuesday was second-year pro Evgeny Grachev moving with wing to center for the first time and being flanked by Williams and Brodie Dupont.

“You’ve got a little time to try some different things and play around, so we’ll have to see how it goes,” Gernander said of Grachev's move.

Niemi could be returned to Saskatoon as an overager

Getting Finnish D Jyri Niemi back from the Rangers isn't out of the question, either, said Molleken

It's from last week. Considering how many D are under contract in the AHL,Niemi could play another year in the W.

Just realized that tonight is HFD's first preseason game. Anyone know if it will be available online and/or if it'll be covered by any journalists? Very curious to see/hear how our cuts (in particular Zuke and Grachev) perform.

Wish I could go to the game. I usually always get to the Trinity opener, but I have class tonight. I'm sure Howlings will cover the game.

No guarantee the top level guys (Zuke, Grachev, Williams, Byers, etc) will play tonight, since it's the first game and there's still a bunch of bodies in Hartford's camp that need to be sorted out. In fact, I'd bet very few of the guys who were at Rangers camp will play tonight.

There won't be any online streams, but there's a chance at better press coverage than in the past, since Baldwin's got the local media in his pocket, and they're also revealing the new logo during a press conference at the rink before the game, which could get a couple of extra bodies to show up.

#AHL preseason final: HFD 3, ALB 0... Zuccarello 1+1=2 for Wolf Pack, Talbot/Grumet-Morris combine for shutout, Caruso 37 saves for Devils
