MacKenzie seems to be receiving a lot of praise from the commentators tonight for what that's worth

Gabriel doesn't turn 20 until May, so he's not AHL eligible.

He only played 40 games in the WHL last year due to a ruptured spleen, so he could use a full season playing a major role with the Winterhawks.

Can we sign him and send him back to juniors?

Oh, thought he was a year older.

Leneveu in for Garon. Garon goes out with 11/12 saves (.917 sv%).

If we don't before the opening night rosters are set he goes back into the draft pool.

Since Gabriel is still draft eligible, can they sign him?

Yes. They have his rights until the season starts.

I saw the Dispatch listed Ratchuk as an "extra". Is he seeing ice time at both F and D, just one or the other, or not at all?

I liked the way Kyle Wilson looked on Sunday. He's a heady player with a pretty decent skill set. Good to hear he built off of it with a goal. Depth never hurt anybody.

It's nice to see Fredrik Pettersson doing well for Atlanta (he has a goal and an assist). He played on that outstanding Frölunda U20 team with Kirill Starkov, did well in the WHL with the Hitmen but was never signed by Edmonton and went back to Sweden where it took him a couple of years to develop his game. He had a breakout season in the SEL with Frölunda last year and signed with Atlanta.

I always had this theory that coaches tell vets to take penalties so that they can see the younsters in situations. Either Commie is out of shape again or he just took his second holding call on purpose.

I was hoping to be impressed by him tonight, but at best I'm just ambivalent.
