I think Rypien is the best of the bunch as well. Funny I think Tootoo is better against bigger guys as he can just bury his head pull in and swing. I think Rypien would take Tootoo in a fight.
I don't
Tootoo takes punches very well. He takes a beating and doesn't go down at all unless really drilled. Rypien has a lot of punches, but lacks 1 punch knock out power. He overwhelms his opponents, who cant react/defend themselves.
would be entertaining. But Tootoo has 2x the punching power Rypien has. If Tootoo can survive the initial flurry, Rypien wont have much left.
Pains me to prop up Tootoo, but this Rypien love is so annoying. If players knew in the past they could make a living Throwing forearms and doing a standing turtle until the other guy tired out... in a hockey fight.... Soo many more people would be fighters.
Staubitz is a solid middleweight. He's been a favorite of mine since he's played for the 67's.
Always remember him and Stortini going at it years ago in the playoffs..
As an Oiler fan, and hater of all things Canucks, I'm going to have to disagree on the statement above. Rypien is a helluva fighter, especially when you take into consideration his size. I'd love him here.

Agreed. Rypien is basically a lightweight that can beat most middleweights thanks to how skilled of a fighter he is. I think he's a bit of an idiot and have never been a fan of him but I always take time to watch his most recent fight. I definitely respect that aspect of his game.
I'm going to throw Peckham's name out there. I'm not sure if he's lost in the NHL yet. If he has it's probably only been once...maybe twice. How can you not like a guy that has beat up Matt Cooke...AND Claude Lemieux.
Tootoo would never get my vote because he is afraid to fight bigger guys. To me the best middle weight will fight guy no matter their size. In the St Louis game he delivered a big hit that I think was legal but then wouldn't drop the gloves when someone came to defend their teammate.
