Sens Blueline in 3 Years....

Given the young defensive talent coming up the ranks, what does the D-corps look like 3 years from now once Gonchar's contract is up (2013/2014 season)? My take....

Wiercioch - Karlsson
Cowen - Rundblad
Phillips - Gryba
(Carkner)

I don't think all of them (PW, Rundblad, Cowen, and Gryba) will work out. I don't mean to be a pessimist, but it just usually happens that not all prospects pan out.

3 years is a long time, 3 years ago nobody would have predicted our D to look like it is today

I hear you. Either that or one gets traded. My wishful thinking, I guess. I don't see Lee hanging around, and I do see Phillips being a Senator-for-life. I think these guys are good enough prospects that they will all play in the league, even if it's not in a top-4 capacity. Whether that will be with the Sens or not is another question....

If we keep all our d prospects in the system I would like to see something along the lines of:

Cowen - Karlsson
Phillips - Rundblad
Wiercioch - Gryba
(Carkner)

Have puck movement on all the lines as well as a bigger guy protecting the skilled guys. This ofc is if all the players reach their potential.

Campoli? If he has a strong year, he could be resigned too a mutli year deal.

Don't forget it's also possible that someone may be traded for a forward/goalie. Good defense prospects are always in demand.

Dorion hinted that we may trade one of them if an opportunity comes along.

To many RD (if that's possible). You'll probably see a trade involving one of our d prospects at some point.

Phillips - Karlsson
Cowen - Weircioch
Carkner - Rundblad/Gryba

Could work, but a lot will change over the next few years, and not all out d propects will pan out as we hope.

With Karlsson, Wiercoch, and Rundland all as PMDs (plus Gonchar for the next three years), I don't see there being a spot for Campoli on the roster.

Were likely to get into trade situations down the road where partners are going to hang up unless were using names like Weircioch and Rundblad.

Either they don't all pan out, or there won't be enough room. If none of the top D prospects we have make the team this year they ALL may be ready for full time duty by next year. You can't keep them in the minors for too long after their ready...can't bury assets like that for too long. By the time their all ready, we'll have a good idea of which one we may want to part with, but I don't expect their all going to be long term Sens.

I expect Weircioch will be demand by prospective trade partners. It's not gonna take long at the pro level before people start seeing how talented he is already and how much potential there is in that frame to be a difference maker on defense.

Cowen - Karlsson
Wiercioch - Rundblad
Phillips - Gryba
Ben Blood

Hopefully, it works out like this. Would be a very sexy defense. A lot of size, speed and skill.

where does Shea Weber fit into those charts ?

Weber Philips
Cowen Karlsson
Gryba Wiercioch

I had a dream last night that we would trade Shannon, Rundblad & the rights to Brad Peltz for Weber.

I agree, this is probably the closest to reality unless of course one of them gets traded.

In 3 years there's a chance the Sens blue line could be 6 inches wider. Well all blue lines for that matter if they make that rule change.
