Jimmy Bonneau

Does anyone else have the feeling he might stay with the big club as an enforcer and play only strategic games ? I have this feeling!

I think that he has only a AHL contract... Is that right?

He will not play here but I'm agree. It's better have Bonneau as 14th forward than any other player

Correct. This is going to be like the whole Eric Neilson thing all over again.

I don't really remember much of him from his last stint with the Dogs - better off asking Montreal or Whitesnake.

He's pretty slow, even for the AHL, so for the NHL, and his skills are -very- limited... I think he's a pretty willing fighter though, who will protect his teammates, but he's probably far from being a JM player...

Or far from being an NHLer period?

At some point you can be as willing to fight or as tough as Rocky Freakin Balboa....if youre a liability to your team on the ice, you have no business in the show.

He's good enough for pre-season fights against other AHL goons of his caliber.

That's it.

Camps should be limited to 30 players max and 5 games over 10 days.

Of course Mr.Molson (as Gillett before) are quite pleased to fill up the Bell, make 1 to 2 million $ net profit, with no salaries to pay to the players

I'm not a huge fan of fighters but i agree with this. We can't find a young enforcer who has some potential or nhl skills? We stick to bonneau who doesn't even have a real NHL contract. Kind of goes to show we don't see him making the team, why not try out someone who has a chance.

We have been inviting the players that are signed by the Bulldogs during the summer to our training camp since at least 2006,

and also :

The Dogs will jointly train with their parent club until Tuesday, Sept. 28 when they break off and fly to Corner Brook, Newfoundland to begin their own training camp and preseason schedule.

ok but i still would rather Hamilton sign someone younger with some potential to make the big club for that role.

He is only 24????? This guy fought and beat some of the best enforcers in the AHL last year. His skills are limited yes but no worse(maybe even better) than Laraque. The difference being is he has no problem with that role and would fight anyone that messed with a teammate. Jannsen wouldn't have got just a tug on the jersey from Hamrlik after he ran Price last year if Bonneau was there. Not saying he should make the team but what harm would it be having a guy play, in a limited role, a few games against the more physical teams. Maybe instead of OB getting his ass handed to him by Lapperiere, Bonneau could have turned the tables and put some spark in a deflated Habs team.

Everyone pile on and bash Jimmy... seriously

Bonneau is a good prospect for a fighter. He could play in the NHL if he continues to improve as a fighter to a level where he is dominant in the A. See: Westgarth, Kevin (next big thing), MacIntyre, Steve (I think) others, many.

He is an upgrade over Neilson (last years guy - who is quite small and 50/50 in his fights).

Carreer Fight Card (with clips)
http://dropyourgloves.com/Fights/Fig...x?Player=14710

Jimmy's card shows 4-losses in 29 fights. Big wins over Mirasty (who he lost to as well), and Aaron Boogard. He did well against Paul Crosty getting a draw. Crosty destroyed Bonneau a few years ago.

He's developing pretty well. The Dogs are going to be a very tough team.

He won't make the Habs this year. He will need to be the champ, or maybe a top 3 fighter to make the bigs.

If that was their plan, they would have signed a guy with NHL experience for the same money. Henry would be ahead of him in the Habs pecking order for that also.

JM doesn't want that kind of player. Bonneau is useless beside his fists.

There is nothing that makes me miss Souray. He's a bum!! The Oilers don't even want him around anymore.

He's overpaid, he has a big mouth, he thinks he's better than he really is. He is a decent 5-6 defencemen at best that can be used on the powerplay.

He can't fight anymore without getting hurt and missing 10 games....so having him as a fighter makes no sense. He can't throw his body around anymore either, or he'll get hurt and miss more time.

Souray is a big slow defencemen who can't do anything besides take a slapshot. I would honestly take Bergeron over Souray.....at least Bergeron can stay healthy and won't cost $5.4 million a season.
