Not this one again, it has probably come around twice every off-season..

Morrow won't be dealt, period. The value is definitely there, but Morrow means more to us than Martin Havlat could ever be. Arnott for Bonk is lateral at best, Arnott being the slightly better player at this moment, but his salary and RFA status makes it about even. No dice from a Stars POV, I figure few deals involving Brenden Morrow are..

M = D, I'm just wondering, what kind of package would you expect in return for Morrow? If you dont mind pick a player(s) from Detroit who you would take in return for Morrow.

Seriously, I wouldn't consider dealing Morrow at all. He really contributes in each and every facet of the game. He's everything the Dallas Stars aren't, is our future Captain, and at 24, is already among our best players, that, and he plays on what currently is our weakest position. I'd be willing to look past all this if the player in return is something superior, but I can't come up with a fair one on one trade, not especially from a Wings perspective.

Are you sure that Dallas would say no to Havlat for Morrow. I know Morrow is a great thing for Dallas, but so could Havlat. Put Marty on Modanos line and they would be very strong. All Marty needs is more ice, I am sure he could be a 80-90 point player. Pretty rare. Ott really needs a player like Morrow. Or how about Havlat to Carolina for Cole and Williams. Something like that.

Comparing their peak years, I much rather have a 30 goal, 60 point winger that is excellent defensively, is tough as nails, a playoff proven warrior, is Captain material and most of all, rarely takes his nights off, than a potential ppg winger with a rather one-sided game. I realise Havlat has drasticly improved his defensive aspects over the years, but he's far from a reliable two-way threat. I feel that Morrow more than enough makes up for the difference in points by his advantage in nearly all of the remaining attributes. I kinda see it like Ryan Smyth/Brendan Shanahan/Adam Deadmarsh/Shane Doan vs Alexei Kovalev/Sergei Samsonov/Miroslav Satan, etc..

The only place your wrong is your statement about him not being a reliable two way winger. He is now but wasnt before. Havlat is 22 Morrow is 25 I bet the Stars would do it.

I know as a sens fan I wouldnt.

What would it take just to get Arnott?

Moving Arnott would only happen out of rebuilding purposses, so it would have to be a younger player playing a position and style the Stars urgently need..

BTW, you are right, he is 25, which he turned earlier this year. Thought he was still 24..

I think the stars would have to consider such a deal IMO. I love Brendan but havlat could be special and the stars have no special offensive talents in the system. The Bonk for Arnott part does not thrill me but age is a consideration as is the fact Arnott will likely be a UFA soon

I wouldn't do that deal if I was the Stars.

I would trade just about any combination of players and picks on the Stars for that package... but not Morrow. I realize Havlat is more talented than Morrow, but I still wouldn't do it....

The only way Havlat gets traded to Dallas is if one of Morrow or MAYBE Turco are involved. Since that seems unlikely, this ain't gonna work...

Polak and Eriksson are pretty special.

Yup.. It's still too early to tell, but that's an extremely unlikely scenario..

It is possibble they wont be...but then again it is possibble they will be. Ya never know. Mckeen's had a pretty glowing review of Polak.

would Spezza instead of Havlat sweeten the pot?

Wow.. Tough call.. I actually think I would, the Stars are looking for an eventual Modano replacement, and Spezza should be a good one.

Again, Ottawa's not going to fill one hole by opening up another one. The Sens need a gamebreaking #1 center just about as badly as they need a LW power forward.

Polak has arguably the highest offensive ceiling among all Stars prospects, it's just that because he's a boom/bust type, he's quite far from realising it. Polak's offensive upside is quite superior to that of Erikssons if you ask me..
