Matt Lashoff pulling his weight..

"I think preseason is my playoffs," ... "Being traded (here), there's a lot of people from around the organization that don't know exactly what you can do."

I think he had a great Game last nite and should get 2-3 more to show his stuff. showed a great first pass and good in his own zone , i admit looked a bit nervous but did good thoughts? he challenge for the last spot

Good for him, he won't make it on opening night though unless there is an injury. Schenn will never play an AHL game, Gunnarsson will have to play pretty bad to be sat, so Lashoff will either be in the press-box or with the Marlies.

Likely Marlies because he does have a 2-way contract.

He wont sit in the press box thats for sure , he will play top 4 minuets in the AHL and maybe get a call up when there is an injury , he is a 40 Point d-man

It's obvious he's a Marlies guy, but nice to have that competition from below.

Wrong.

He's got a one way deal this year and is subject to waivers hence the reason that he was dumped by Tampa for two guys on 2-way deals. Maybe look something before you present it as a fact.

Lashoff, in my opinion, can make this team if he outplays Finger. If he plays well and they demote him, he's likely a gone in waivers.

Yep, Leafs saved a contract, Tampa saved money. Both teams more then happy with the outcome. But I have my doubts anyone picks him up on waivers, he passed through a couple of times last year as well.

Teams have a lot more flexibility to bring someone in at this time of year than near the end. If he has a good camp, some team will likely give him a chance.

Regardless of what he does with the leafs, I don't think we were going to be seeing any "stefano giliati" articles anytime soon.

yes this is true.. But Lashoff is a former 1st round pick and should of gotten more playing time thats for sure.. he has the talent to become a top 4 d-man but will most likely be a bottom pairing. he turns 24 at the end of the month

It shows his AHL and NHL salary is the same for 2010-2011.

I hate to be 'that' guy, but whether you are on a one-way or two-way contract doesn't affect waiver status. It's a time of service issue.

The point is that they don't save any money by demoting Lashoff over Finger or Lebda. They gotta pay them all the same regardless.

After last night's game, I might consider taking Lashoff over Finger.

Honestly, the only way he plays in the NHL this year is if he plays very well in the preseason and someone picks him up of waivers. Our D is way too deep and I cannot imagine Lebda not being in the 7 spot.

He's not going to crack this roster, but he's been a heckuva lot better than I thought he'd be.

You can see why he was a first round pick, he's got skills.

Right, but if they are demoted, it doesnt count against the cap. They still get paid though, cant change that.

What saddens me is that we'll have to wait a while to see Scrivens, Reimer, and Rynnas in the NHL because our goaltending is so deep. Obviously if we don't re-sign Jiggy then one of them will likely come up depending on how Guss plays, but they're all so good! I want them all!!!!

I'm pretty sure Kabs will be gone by the deadline, and will be persuaded to waive his NTC....Hence - Lebda will become valuable then. Burke seems to add pieces as they come, not as he needs them. Always tries to have his ducks in a row. He got burned badley in Vancouver with Dan Cloutier , and other injuries that prevented that team from going further in the dance. He'll never do that again.
