The All Purpose Carey Price Thread

I like Carey Price. I liked Jaroslav Halak, and I still think last year's playoff run was unbelievable and wouldn't have happened without his fabulous play. Yet I think the trade to St-Louis was a good one since we got great return. And yes, as a matter of fact, I believe our chances of winning the cup with Price between the pipes are as high as if it was Halak or Rask in front of the net.

Really. 4 goals in a pre-season game. Who cares. I know the "tatas" who boo'd him tonight were only a handful of drunk ignorants who don't quite represent the entire fanbase. But still, I needed to vent.

Jaro didn't do much better last night either...

No too worried in Carey myself, let's at least wait until the real games start before freaking out, ok HF?

Impossible.

Though I would have liked to see more from him tonight, he was hung out to dry on 3 of the 4 goals. First one was a classic Price goal though.

I just want to write him an open letter about how much we appreciate him even though the obnoxious fans are the most vocals.

I'm with you, Carey.

Lol, premature. Halak let in 3 on his first 10, Backstrom 4 on his first 11 and Price 4 on his first 10. I'm clearly worried...not. He'll be fine.

People starting Price appreciation threads after his performance tonight are just as much of a problem as those who say we're never going to win anything with him, or that he's a piss-poor goaltender.

The kid had a bad performance. Let's just let it at that. It's as if people never wanted to admit he's human and that he can have bad performances.

Well, yes he can, and he's going to get criticized for it. Going all white is not any better than going all black.

I agree that booing Him is totally unnecessary...

But are you really so insecure that You have to make a thread about Carey tonight? I honestly see no need for it whatsoever and I don't think I'm alone in this.

There is one WORLD of difference. St-Louis fans will let Halak improve. We are not going to do that. The fans reaction was so obvious tonight and yet some people in here are acting as if they didn't expect it.

What Price would have needed is a Rask type of performance. Square to the shot and a couple of key save.

He wasn't "weak" except on the first one. But there's a difference between weak and able to make a key save. As a goalie, you are entitle to sometimes make a save on a breakaway. He needed that, and not a tougher battle ahead.

This is a special market in here. A crazy one. A stupid one. You can't manage this team like any other team. I hope one day people understand it.

He doesn't deserve an appreciation thread tonight, sorry...he had a tough time, doesn't mean we should appreciate it.

Here's to a (hopeful) rebound!

I really hope PG stands up for him in the media, or martin for that matter! Ala when gainey stood up for breezer, were all cheering for the same team! I don't understand those idoits, its the first preseason game of the season. I understand its montreal, but **** we love to burn down our own players. I love the passion, but thats irrational.

My problem with people like you is that you'll never admit he was at fault for any goal. The first goal was horrendous, I don't know what you were watching. The rest I'll give him a pass on, not all his fault at all.

So anyone that's worried about how Price played tonight = hater?

Has everyone forgotten how Price played amazingly well last November? I know Halak was amazing a little longer, but that is over, move-on people.

Cutting a player down just for the sake of trying to make yourself look good is a fool's game.

People who boo\bash Price doesn't seriously know anything about hockey and\or golatending. I can't believe Montréal is called the meck of hockey when everyone is bashing a 22 years old goalie, i can't believe it.

Insecurity? I didn't make this thread out of insecurity. Yes, Price had a bad game tonight. I still consider the Canadien's organisation lucky to have a young promising goaltender in the lineup, and I believe Price is a good goalie even though he let in 4 goals in one an a half period (something that can happen to any other goalie, even Halak as someone previously mentionned). I don't see why the timing is bad; Price isn't worst than he was 6 hours ago.

Sadly, this is how it was last year and how it's likely to be for the foreseeable future as well, unless Price blossoms into a star and Halak busts.

In any event, it's just the ****ing preseason. If this happens during the season, then we can **** bricks.

We are our own worse enemy... fans shouldn't "tar & feather" him and/or "burn his effigy" after this performance. Agreed, it was less than stellar but Hab fans in attendance shouldn't heckle the guy after/during his first pre-season game. Thats not even mentionning the media guys... lets try to relax for once and let him get into game shape.

Everyone gots it wrong.

He was weak on the PP goal. The first goal was clearly deflected by a stupid Spacek stick.

He'll be more than fine. I still wish we would cut down on stupid crap like Spacek's turnover, but overall Price is just getting warmed up. I'm glad he reacted calmly. Those morons will be buying Price merchandise come december and voting him to the all-star game.

I think we should (if at all) be more worried about Hammercek.

I still think he'll be good, people bashing him will take every little occasion to bash him, that's what bashers are here for. I'm sure we'll do fine with him, I won't begin to panic with one preseason game. I won't begin to panic with one preseason game on Price as much as I won't begin to be crazy about every rookie that has a good game. This is a 82 game season and every game will be different Price will have good ones, Price will have bad ones also.

I can't accept that people at the Bell already are hard to Price, people need to understand they are doing that to another human being, not a god. I'm not sure these people would accept being treated that way at their job. Honestly the crowd at the Bell Centre is making me sick sometimes, Tonight is ont of these times. People have to understand what hockey is, it's not a 1 game sport, it's a sport where you have to prove thing over seasons and not over one game.

I think people bashing players in their own teams are just cowards that wouldn't even take 1% of the pressure this guy has.

Criticizing him for the game is ok, but people have to understand this is a team game and putting all the blame one ONE guy.

What pisses me off is how Price supporters feel the need to baby him and make excuses for his failures. He **** the bed tonight plain and simple. A goalie has to be held accountable for pucks other than the ones that hit his chest. Next time how about making an appreciation thread when Price actually does something worth ****ing appreciating? Because a few more perfomances like that and it won't be Price head that the fans will want, it'll be Gaineys' and Gauthiers'. Not to mention this board will be flooded with thousands of Price vs Auld and Price vs Sanford threads before long all over again !
