Chris Campoli for a Mid 20s Winger

Basically a Puck Moving Defenseman who can play on the PP, who's in his mid 20s, signed to a $1.4m deal, can put up 40 points, is prone to the occasional defensive gaffe but not as bad as someone like Marc Andre Bergeron.

Looking for a winger in return. Maybe someone who could pot 15-20 goals but is out of favour. Cap hit has to be about equal.

Ideally the player will also be an RFA, since Campoli remains RFA next summer.

Bad idea, campoli is a very good player, The sens only had 2 wins in 18 games when he was not in the line-up last season

I guess you see the roster like this:

Regin-Spezza-Alfredsson
Michalek - Fisher - Kovalev
Foligno - Kelly - ???
Rutuu - Winchester - Neil
Smith

Phillips - Karlsson
Gonchar - Cowen
Carkner - Lee
Campoli

There's an open roster spot, but with Kuba injured what happens if another defensemen goes down? I'd rather Locke, Smith, Hoffman, Wick, Butler or Shannon battle it out for that spot. We need to keep Campoli regardless of how poorly he's played the last while.

Stafford for Campoli

Then flip Sekera for a draft pick

40 points is pushing it. He definitely has offensive upside, but 40 points is a lot.
He's a soft as they come too, he just hates the corners.

Not a big fan and was very unhappy that Murray decided to send a first rounder (late one) to NYI for him.

Personally, after the pre-season I'd like to see something like this on forwards:

Michalek/Regin-Spezza-Alfie
Michalek/Foligno-Fisher-Kovy
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil (this line is too good to split)
Regin/Foligno-Winchester-Butler/Wick/Shannon
Bass

I think Foligno is trying to prove he's ready for that top six spot and so far I'd have to give it to him. Unless Regin comes in and plays like he did to finish the season, I'd give Foligno the spot or just alternate them depending on the need for the line, skill or grit. The fourth line can be an energy line with some potential to pot a few. Bass has earned his spot back imo so far.

He's 25. He's a 40ish point player in terms of his production capacity.

He doesn't play first line minutes in Ottawa on the PP. He has value.

I'd do that, but to be honest, I think Stafford is better (or I remember him being better)... How high of a draft pick for Sekera, and is he more offensive than defensive?

We won't really have a 4th line. He would still get at least 15mins/game.

If he doesnt crack top 6 I'd wanna see this:

Ruutu-Regin-Kelly
Smith-Winchester-Neil

or something of the likes.

I want Shannon gone. That should be apparent. I also wouldn't mind us getting another left wing in the system, even if he's in the AHL this year.

That's selling Campoli a bit hard.. He's missed 88 games over the last 4 seasons and has more than 30 points once.

Do you have any idea how much your powerplay unit would have to suck for Campoli to get first line minutes ?

We have one spot on the top six open. Either Regin or Foligno is gonna get it. Our third line is FAR too good chemistry wise to break up in my opinion. However, I still think we would roll four lines, so the so-called fourth line will still get a fair a bit of ice time.

lol some people. Campoli is a solid bottom pairing defenseman who played injured last season for a stretch of the season. He can put up 30 points when healthy if given PP time and was solid downt the stretch. He's nowhere near awful.

One bad pre-season game and now Lee has somehow jumped him on the depth chart

Campoli sucks? Fine, we'll just keep him then. You just don't know what you're all talking about lol.

I don't want to get rid of him, he can hit 40 points easaly. We don't need to trade him for another forward, we have plenty of prospects to fill in those spots.

I'd say Fleischmann, but as luck would have it, Campoli is the thing Washington needs the least.
