Cogliano, but you'd have to convert him to wing and convert him into a top 6 winger, plus convert him into a goal scorer, plus convert him into finding time to gain weight, but other than that you have the perfect fit...what are you willing to add to sweeten the deal though?

Campoli is OK - he played well defensively last year, the problem was that he was brought in for offense

Seriously, last year he had some kind of muscle injury. It may have been a sports hernia, I think he had off-season treatment.

I think he gets more than one preseason game before we hurl him under the bus.

Yeah I'd only trade him if Lee consistently outperforms him by the time Kuba is back

I was kind of inferring to what happens when you don't have Campoli to step in when someone more important than him goes down. I also don't think it hurts their lineup to have Campoli as well as Gonchar.

Apparently, getting pucks up the ice was a big deal for them last season.

Edit - I'm actually thinking back to two seasons ago. Was this still a problem last season?

Not really, although Volchenkov was an offensive black hole but we've replaced him with Gonchar so I think we'll be ok.

I'd do that in half a second.

Michalek-Spezza-Alfie
Miettinen-Fisher-Kovy
Foligno-Regin-Winchester
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil
Smith

Phillips-Karlsson
Cowen-Gonchar
Carkner-Lee
Hale

Then

Phillips-Gonchar
Kuba-Karlsson
Carkner-Cowen
Lee

pretty good team

You can keep Campoli and Vanocuver will still offer you your choice of two young, quality top six prospects that are NHL ready.

Either:

Sergei Shirokov for Patrick Wiercioch

or

Jordan Schroeder for Erik Karlsson

First Murray hangs up the phone. Then he calls back to hang up the phone a second time.

I think Campoli can be a great offensive defenseman on Ottawa's third pairing (like Corvo and Preissing were in 2007).

+1.

As to Running Riot, the main problem is, Karlsson is that 2nd puck moving guy.

Right now, when healthy, our defense looks like this:

Phillips - Gonchar
Kuba - Karlsson
Carkner - Lee
Campoli
(Cowen. Weircioch. Gryba. Benoit.)

Now, some people might put Campoli above Lee, and that's fine. It's still the case though where I'm dubious that puck moving is what we're missing right now. I think a good winger to replace Shannon and give Butler/Wick/Hoffman one more year seasoning might be better.

Campoli for Dupuis?

Campoli would help round off the Penguins D (I'm not sold on Lovejoy)

Duper will pot anywhere between 15-20 goals, has great speed, and is solid on the PK.

They also have the same cap hit.
