Hahaha. My favorite part of the Frolov goal is how after one deke Marty just fell over completely out of position.

That thread title of their post game is hysterical, too. Downright pathetic. Their "Albany" team has a higher payroll than what is apparently our full team (at least in their minds). I've never seen a fanbase pay more attention to what a rival team does than their own.

Comical yet sad. Like a sad clown.
I can kind of see why they're obsessed with our team. They have to find something to do while living in their mother's basement.

As a Ranger fan, I wish I knew about that.

Yeah I didn't really mean to provoke a Devils fan bashing session, but I guess I should have known better.

Just taken aback by some of the viciousness of their posts.

Then again, everyone here starts mocking them so I shouldn't pretend we're much better I guess

Rangers32, how can you see that Stepam struggled on faceoffs. He was 5 for 10 in his first pro game. New York math = 50%. I am sick of hearing that he will hit the wall in game 50 or 60. The kid played 50 some games last year and did not hit a wall. If he has 40 points after 60 games we going to send him to the A. The kid will have his ups and downs just like every rookie that has ever come into the NHL. i find it funny that we are trying to find the kids faults after his first pro game. Stepan was very good last night, lets just leave it at that!!!!!

He might hit a wall. It's a higher level of competition and longer season than he's used to. But still, if he earns it, you give him the spot. If he struggles deeper into the season because he's wearing out, you can rest him for awhile or whatever. Can't hold a guy back for what "might" happen

The real disappointment of the evening IMO was Dancin Larry. He needs to shape up. Thankfully it's only pre-season.

Great point Levitate. It "might" happen. If it does we can deal with it then. Stepan sure seemed to handle the 5 games in 7 days ok at the WJC ok. My guess is that he will be fine. This kid is not Crosby, but he is sure off to a great start. Lets hope he plays well this year, he shows up every night, and plays to the best of his ability every game. If he does i think that we will all be satisfied.

Just noticed Gaborik wore the 'A' in the game. Looks good on him, he leads by example.

I guess he ended strong because I also noticed that he was losing almost every draw early but I stopped paying attention after about the first 6.

Totally agreed. Some people tend to forget that majority of HF are youngsters. Man, if some of these fans can't handle a game or two, I'd hate to see how they handle the struggles of reality/life.

I noticed during the breaks, he was out there chatting with Fro, Step, and a few others. Also noticed him talking to the refs. That is something he should be doing all the time. Always a good sign showing leadership and communicating on ice.

How am I looking for faults? I wasn't the only person in my section who even brought up his face offs. About the wall issue it happens, the NHL season is a grind, not to mention the competition level.

Age has nothing to do with it there is just a bit of an ego culture on the boards but hey this is testosterone driven sports stuff so it's expected. There are a lot of vets/older guys on this board who let you know they're vets but certainly don't act like it very often.

Far as the game I got the feeling that MZA was nervous and will adjust. His 2nd period was good. If he plays like that he'll contribute to this team. But my God he is the smallest hockey player I have ever seen it just really stood out to me. Seemed slow and confused on a few plays too but again I have a feeling he'll adjust to the game and get rid of the nerves.

Stepan nuff said rrom everyone.

Really liked what I saw froM Sauer.

I did see McD struggle a few plays and look terrific on others.

Frolov did very well. Looking forward to more games/sampling.

Dubinsky is Dubinsky. He still looks awkward when he's carrying the puck. It's good that he on the wing now because I think Anisimov and Stepan will quickly surpass him as centers. Dubinsky is not the worst playmaker, but he's more a doer than a thinker. He will pass up opportunities because he just doesn't really have the capability to think ahead of the play (at least from what I've seen thus far)

With a pic of the Victoria Cup no less. You stay classy....

In regards to Dubinsky: He definitely looked much stronger, which is amazing considering how strong he already was. It just seemed like he tried to do to much himself. He needs to calm down and play his game. I always considered him more of a playmaker.

I disagree 100% w/ that. I thought Dubi looked good and he certainly wasn't slow when he skated in one on one with the goalie in the 3rd while being hacked at and rang one off the post.

MDZ also hit a wall after a dozen games. Yet, he was still on pace for 30 points per 80 games even after his dozen-game streak was over. Still not bad, especially considering his limited time.

If Step gets half a point per game for the year (40 points in 80 games), or something close to that, it will be excellent. I think he can do it.
