I can't believe what Nick Dodge is doing this playoff year. 4 goals and 6 points in 9 games after only scoring 5 goals and 13 points in 57 games in the regular season. I wonder if it's possible that Dodge is somewhat maligned for having played a couple of hundred AHL games and never having gotten the call. I can imagine that would be personally and professionally frustrating. I think he might know that without an impressive playoff performance he may not get another contract and he's dialing it up. Sutter's performance is nearly as confusing.
I think this just goes to show we've got an awful lot of talent down there on the farm these days. Terry, Murphy, Osala, etc (outside of the Boychuk, Bowman and Dalpe trio) are really going to force the Canes to consider them as viable options in the next couple of seasons or so.
The Baby Pens obliterated the AHL in the regular season, so I'm sort of surprised to see the Checkers take a commanding 3-1 lead in the series.
