this is purely fantasy at the moment...but part of me wants to move to montreal for a year and get a 10 game pack or evcen season tickets(though i doubt that cause its probly wayy to much) and get a jonb there...rent an apartment and just take in the city for a year or 4...but id need a job there to do that and have no experiece with anything other than lobster fishing, and a hardware store. what could i find for work there that would be relatively easy to get a job with?

And how far would the good downtown scene be from this area? Does public transpertation run all night?

Thanks in advance and can't wait to visit your beautiful city for the first time!!
Im going to Osheaga too.Im staying in a penthouse on the corner of Sherbrooke East and St-Laurent blvd. I think its reasonably close.

I went last year and it was amazing. Have you been to the festival before?

Hey guys, got a question for Montreal natives/experts here.

So me and a couple of my buddies (college age) are thinking of making a trip up there for a week. Only issue we've run into is we can't be there on a weekend so we are considering if it is even worth going if we can't be there on a weekend. Obviously we are looking to hit the bars, clubs, etc. I guess my question is how is the nightlife on the weekdays, worth going?

If so, any bar or club recommendations for college age guys?

Depends when you are going. It is busy even during the week for pretty much the whole summer, but it will be quiet on a Monday night in February.

As for bar/clubs, just walk St. Laurent north of Sherbrooke and you'll find something.

Does anyone here go to Sports Station on du Fort street in downtown? It's probably one of the best sports bars in the city.

It's okay. I think I prefer the other one on Ste-Catherine, near Berri. A booth with a tv? Sign me up.

You can get that at Cine-Express on Sainte-Catherine near Guy.

I like the sidewalk terrace for the downtown Sports Station. It's big enough to not make me feel like I'm in the middle of the sidewalk lol.

Also, totally forgot why I came into this thread.

What's like one of the best/fun dates you've been on? I'm looking for suggestions. New girl I'm seeing and I'd like to change things up and not just hit up expensive restaurants and stuff.

Bring her to the Just for Laughs festival this week. A lot of cheap shows with good comics for 20$ or if you have more of a budget there's the Ethnic Show, Nasty Show etc. If you don't want to spend money, you can always hang out at the Quartier des Spectacles to see the free outdoor just for laughs related performers or the Nuit D'Afrique shows. Also can't go wrong having a drink with your girl at a terrace in the old port.

Serious question, My wife and I are coming up to NS and then to Montreal and Quebec City in about a month. I am a Kings fan and I am usually wearing Kings (LA, not Sacramento) gear, will I get any serious flack while in Montreal or Quebec City? I was in Vancouver in 2012 and just about everyone was nice except for a couple of stink eyes. I am not "that guy" and I will not act like an *******. We are really excited and we can not wait until our trip.

Thanks for the input and this thread is really helpful,

Homer

Nah, don't worry about it. People here are chill. Especially during summer.

I figure I might get a few Hi-Fives since we eliminated the Rangers. My wife is trying to learn French via Youtube, I told her not to worry.

I grew up in Quebec and now live in the southern states. I can take or leave a poutine but always hunger for cretons on toast. I'll be visiting in a month and am looking to bring a tub back. Where can I find the best cretons in Montreal? Thanks in advance.

Montreal is a city that doesn't hate other teams, unless you're a Bruins fan. Then we'll just glare at you and go about our way.

Dont know what youre talking about, there are litteraly thousands of bruins fans that walk the streets with bruins apparel and the vast majority of them are french-canadian locals. Ive never seen any glance or beef with a single one of them.

That comment wasn't meant to be taken at face value. We're a great sports city, no matter which team you root for.

I was given at least 5 free shots at various bars/pubs around town by random people while wearing Chicago jersey back in 2010, on the night when CHI won the Stanley Cup against PHI.
