I gave up on the video stream after it kept freezing every 5 to 10 seconds. Just listening to the radio feed at this point.

15 minutes in second and Canes had only 2 shots on goal

Meanwhile, the underwhelming performance of Zach Boychuk continues.

When I was actually watching at the beginning of the period, I thought he looked terrible. He got the puck stripped off of him from behind like it was nothing a few times.

Has Boychuk really been that bad? I haven't had the opportunity to follow the team too closely thus far but have been surprised by what I've heard. Can someone give me some details?

He is definitely working, but I'm still waiting for that constant offensive flair that would make him a top 6 talent. He seems like he is getting overpowered easily. Maybe my expectations are just too high too early, after all he is only 20. It's just that for me right now he is behind both Skinner and Bowman in the pecking order.

A bit unfair perhaps, as I am limited to the streams that get posted given that I am not in Raleigh to watch practices and whatnot.

Agreed with DaleCooper. He looks about as flashy as Larose does offensively. I was expecting to see a lot more skill, but he just hasn't shown much at the NHL level.

Chip tweets that it's 2-1 at the end of the 2nd and our delightful stream still says over 4 minutes left in the period.

It was posted on Canes Country that Canesvision is going to try to fix the stream during this intermission.

Yup, and guess who was on the ice for the second goal against?

Choose wisely, you only get one guess

Everybody jumped down my throat when I mentioned that Boychuk didn't exhibit enough work ethic last season to consistently improve his game, and now it's starting to show as the younger and equally talented players are passing him by virtue of that paired with hard work. I don't see him as having a realistic claim to a roster spot unless they spot him a few games. I just don't see him as a long term contributor unless he plays a 3rd line grinder role. A role he has been reticent to accept.

Norris favorite Anton Babchuk was on the ice for the 2nd goal against, to make him an awesome -2 for the night.

I don't think it's his work ethic though. His offensive talent just doesn't look like it's going to translate to the NHL. When he got the puck stripped from him he looked like he was at least skating hard to get it back.

My opinion - Boychuk didn't show up for the camp in a good physical shape.

He seems to be a tad slow, losing pretty much every single battle for the puck. He is trying his best, yes... but can't make things happen

I like Matt Kennedy's play so far. He can become a decent 3rd or 4th liner in the NHL in couple of years, if he can stay away from all the injuries.

Which shows how little plus/minus really means. There should be situations where only one player gets a minus, just to really drill it into their heads that they screwed up. The Harrison/Pogge situation should be one of those situations.

Harrison factor..... Poor Anton or anyone else will have horrible +/- playing with J. Harrison.

I know +/- doesn't mean anything, but I still think Babchuk has feet of cement, as evidenced by the goal scored on him vs. Florida. Hopefully he can take a chisel to that cement by the regular season.

Bowman replacing Boychuk on the line with Sutter and Kennedy.

If I remember correctly, Forslund said on 99.9 on Tuesday before the game that Boychuck and Corvo were by far the fittest ones coming into camp. He was impressed with that aspect of him.
