I think it has a lot more to do with that than with asset management.
True, but salary is asset management. Additionally, if Sulzer cleared on the way down (and the Preds paid for him and O'Reilly last season to play in the AHL on one-way deals) he would require recall waivers, which if claimed would cost the Predators $325k in dead salary for the rest of the year.

I don't think this is a case of the Predators being cheap, I think it's a case of a team trying to keep as many NHL ready defensemen in the organization as possible.

Adios.

BTW, how has the Isles PK looked this preseason? Should be one of the best to take care of O'Brien in the line up.

He was never on re-entry waivers.

Shoot, I'm so confused.

What is the current status of the Sheldon Souray situation?

He was waived and cleared waivers, that's all.

Kings goaltender Erik Ersberg is likely one of the next to fall to waivers. Bernier has beat him out for the 2nd goaltender position in LA and he has nowhere to go other than waivers or trade, and given the goaltending market, waivers are the most logical place for him:

RT @ericfrancis: Team source tells me 20-year-old T.J. Brodie will be making the jump from junior to the Flames following a great camp. It'll cost a vet.

Someone likely hits waivers, maybe Sarich?

Very nice! Brodie deserves it.

A 20-year-old defenseman cracks the NHL on essentially his first try. You never know in this sport.

Like the 19-year-old Leddy in Chicago.

I just hope he does well in another system...because he's too good just to be placed in a dark room and have manure thrown on him...or as I referred to it last year as TM's goalie rotation and (#)12 step defense...

Putting Sarich on waivers makes no sense. The Flames are better off trading him for a second or third.
