I don't care for Emrick; I guess I am one of the few who doesn't think he's the greatest play by play announcer. But with Micheletti and Resch battling tonight, he actually toed the line and didn't get gushy about the Devils or anything red.

Ruslan Fedotenko - 3 points, not great in play but still...
Todd White - good along boards - a surprise...
Ryan Callahan - great effort, setup gwg in top fashion
Sean Avery - haha priceless. great discipline too
Tim Kennedy - not a better night for our Dead Prez...
Jeremy Williams - a bit too high tempo at times, but saw some skills shine through
Dane Byers - weak link on this line, got owned in a fight, poor puck control = many turnovers
Artem Anisimov - looks great
Evgeny Grachev - still intrigued, needs a total NHL line with talent imo
Derek Boogaard - great when whistle is blown. An interesting addition... But not an NHLer in play. LeBlonde is a chickensh*t btw
Kris Newbury - owned that Devil totally
Dale Weise - good solid bottom line game. NHL ready imo
Michael Del Zotto - sloppy D, great offence w 4 points & GWG. Our version of Mike Green?
Steve Eminger - meh, nice taking Kovies head off almost tho
Garnet Exelby - mean guy, lousy player for an NHL contract tonite. AHLer?
Matt Gilroy- Good & bad. Mostly good...
Alexei Semenov - Looks like a stable 7th D
Pavel Valentenko - Wow. Rock-solid. Impressed. McD, him, Gilroy & ev Sauer battle for the 5/6 spots. Semenov got #7 in a lock imo
Henrik Lundqvist -nothing we will remember him by. Still a win tho

So what's the Devil excuse today? They didn't bring Scott Stevens out of retirement? The Rangers didn't dress enough ECHLers?

Did he lose his balance by stepping on a stick? I'd like to see it again.
I give him credit for helping Avery.

He slipped on the stick twice, once was just a slide and the second time sent him to the ice along with whoever he was fighting with pushing him down. Wouldn't call it a complete blowout but the stick definitely didn't help him.

That's what I thought. Of course Clarkson celebrated like he beat the Boogeyman but of course the Devils kept away from him. They were content to go after Feds and Anisimov.

Did anyone else catch when Kovalchuk was jawing at Avery between the two benches he pointed at Avery and gave him the throat slash gesture.

Be interesting to see if anything comes out of that. I know Boynton from the Hawks got himself a suspension this week for the same hand gesture.

Yeah I did notice that, and given the fact that the NHL can't be too happy with Kovalchuk still, it wouldn't surprise me if he got a game for it.

Haha! I know, they always got some sort of excuse for games on why they didnt win. They turn the puck over, the goaltender lost his stick, the officials suck, etc. It's horrible.

I thought I saw a throat slash too but on repeated viewings it looked more like he was telling Avery to zip his lips.

What a hit on Clarkson. ****ing nasty. Then there was a pretty decent hit on Kovalchuk. I hate Kovalchuk. I hate every devil. They complain, and Clarkson especially who wanted to fight Avery and then backs away like a little *****. Then he realizes that Kovy comes in so he might as well triple team Avery. He needs help. Then he beats up on Byers. Congatulations Clarkson! You beat up on Byers a guy who isnt expected to beat him, but he can't take on Avery. *****. Avery's gonna kick his ass this season big time.

I'm not entirely sure if Avery is scared of Clarkson, or is just trying to get a Power play.

Avery already had a legitimate fight against Clarkson a couple of seasons ago. He is not afraid to fight him. He is doing his job as an agitator.

Chico is a moron you cant have it both ways. Joe was right to call him on it. If Avery has to fight Clarkson tonight. That LeBlond has to drop them against Boogaard and not go after Anisimov instead. But LeBlond is scared of Boogaard.

Thanks for the great photo. It's true about Anisimov, he is going to be well worth the wait. He is 'getting' it, and is growing into his body. The skills he has cannot be faked.

Don't do the silly back and forth with the Debs fans. Take it to the main boards if you want to do that.
