Around the NHL 2010-2011 thread

Figured the preseason one can be locked and replaced by this

Please Sticky Mods to replace the outdated preseason one

Josh Harding injured his knee and was helped off the ice tonight after a collision with Boyes. Appears to be a major injury

Harding was coming off of Hip injury so this further throws his ability to someday be a #1 in doubt and given Backstrom's injury history this could mean the Wild are in market for cheap affordable backup (Greiss and Boucher fit there need)

In other goalie news

Leighton injured his back and his status is ?

Flyers could make move for Theodore if it is serious (Would make the Flyers the favorite to win it all in my opinion if they improve there goaltending with Theo)

I think we see Boston and Philly rematch in the ECF this year

West no idea, Depends on Nucks/Luo, Detroit and age/injuries, SJ and D, and us and inexperience (Morin, Mak ?)

I would also throw the Blues in there

If Halak is average, then the Blues are somewhat average. If Halak is good, the Blues are a 6-8 seed. They don't have enough firepower or playoff experience to be considered a true Cup contender yet. They could be deadly in 3 years, though.

Haven't been watching but after a quick skim of the Habs boards, it sounds like the D is more responsible for that score than Price.

Feel bad for that kid. Every time he does well, the team in front of him falls apart and he gets blamed and booed. He's not utterly dominant, but he'd still be considered a great goalie if the team in front of him could ever get their **** together. I'm still a fan of trying to bring him to the Hawks on the cheap when Montreal realizes that they're wasting him.

Also, this is pretty funny.

With the understanding that no goaltender will ever be perfect, the alternative is to scour Europe for a goaltender named BOULE (no accent on the E) who doesn't speak english or french and cannot read. With zero access to media reports and the misguided notion that crowd is saying Booooooool and not Booo, the Canadiens crease would be stress free and his confidence would be regularly bolstered by the fanbase cheering his name.

He let in a few bad ones according to what I read

Usually those that deflect blame are called Price Fanboys ,,,

There is still a major Halak faction that always argue with Price faction

Frankly it reminds me of when Bear fans used to argue Orton vs Grossman vs Griese

Trading Halak I thought was a mistake by Habs ,,, We will have to see how things go this year for them.

If Price falters then I expect fans will run him out of town

I watched the first half of the Oilers/Nucks preseason game this morning before work. Wow do these Oiler young guns look sick. They are going to be really good within a few years. Jordan Eberle has stood out the most to me in this game.

From reading the Flyers board and Philly press

I could see this young Russian Bobrovsky taking the #1 job by November

Leighton is hurt and sucks and Boucher is a #2 at best

I liked the Flyers signing of the kid

I still can't believe they re-signed Leighton after his embarassing performance in the SCF.

Not just that

He got a raise + they signed him before FA

They could have waited and signed a much better option such as Mason to be there #1 at about same costs

Yeah saw that earlier today

Sucks to hear especially because Samsonov was very excited for the Canes preseason game in Saint Petersburg
