Wow tampa knows so much about hockey now..

Questions asked by sportsnet to random tampa residents:

"pronounce this name..vinny lecavalier (spelled on paper)"
most common answer "vinny le'cavaleir'" --as in chevy cavaleir

"what is a puck made of?"
-lead
-wood
-rocks
-a couple geniuses said rubber

"how many points do you get for a goal?"
-most got the correct answer on this but i think some were lucky since it was a multiple choice question.
-a lot said 7.

"what is the stanley cup?"
-some kind of cup named after stanley
-props to one guy who nailed this brain teaser bang on

i forget the rest...i'm sure there were other hilarious ones.

And how is that any worse than Toronto's favourite hockey personality?

would you classify that info. as false? kinda just argues that hockey fever isn't as huge in tampa as it is being made out to seem.
i really do hope it's wrong b/c it would be a shame to see the cup go to a city where half the people don't know what it is. not taking anything away from the tampa team itself though.

What do you expect from a fanbase that just got a team that went from perennial doormat to being in the SCF's in a matter of seasons? Nobody is really going to follow a fairly new team, playing a fairly new sport (to the local area) except a few diehards when they're playing as poorly as the Lightning did for a large number of seasons.

Yes, because every single citizen needs to be a hockey expert.

Go ask the same questions at a Tampa Bay game, you'll get very different answers. Not everyone is a hockey fan.

Frankly, I'll take fans who don't know much about the game but are getting excited about their hometown team's playoff run over "educated" fans who are changing the flag on the side of their car every 3 weeks (note: I am not talking about Calgary fans in Calgary).

Im not saying its 100% false, there are people in Tampa who don't understand hockey just like there are people in Toronto, Montreal,Calgary who don't understand hockey.

If I asked 100 people walking around Eaton Centre a question about Baseball and 90% of them didn't know who Roy Halladay was I could make it look like everybody in Toronto didn't know anything about baseball, and a few idiots might post my "findings" on a baseball message board.

well ur right...but, i'm confident that if the bluejays were in the finals, more than 10% of toronto would know who halladay is. without a doubt.
i just honeslty hope that hockey has been expanded in that area and people are now more aware. with the poor shape the game is in, in the states, i reallly hope that this experience would be nothing but a positive influence on tampa residents as far as hockey goes.

This thread is baseless and pathetic trolling. rick_tml89, if you have nothing better to do than insult then don't start threads at all.
