Should the Wild consider Redden on Re-entry Waivers (or if he's bought out?)

Redden is a shadow of the player he used to be. Even if he goes on re-entry, it's debatable whether he STILL would be overpaid at 3.25 million/year.

That said, Barker and Stoner have both struggled. Sure, it's just the first two preseason games and both on recovering from injuries and their resulting surgeries. But neither Barker nor Stoner have ever proven that they are reliable defenders at the NHL level. Prosser is a first year pro. Scandella, Cuma, and Faulk could all use 2-3 seasons more in the AHL to maximize their development.

Redden would be an upgrade over Barker, Stoner, and Prosser. He'd be better than any UFA Dman currently still on the market. Redden could be added to the bottom-pairing, fitting into the #5 spot, stabilizing it a bit, giving the Wild more depth, pushing Barker to #6 PP guy and Stoner to the #7.

Next off-season, if Barker improves, maybe try to move Schultz or reduced priced Redden. If not, I'd think about moving Barker.

No.

We don't have the cap space and Barker cost us a lot. He need to improve and we need to make sure he improves.

No on re-entry, maybe if bought out. I get where you are coming from and I am of the idea that the team needs a veteran #6 defensive defenseman, but it's not worth the cap hit and having six defensemen making over $3 million.

It's called a "sunk cost".

It doesn't matter if Barker costs us 4 First rounders or Matt Foy, if he can't cut it, he can't cut it.

reddon wont be bought out

that would mean the NYR would be stuck with his FULL cap hit for the remainder of it

he will get tossed in the minors

Actually, if Redden gets bought out it means that the Rangers would pay two-thirds of the cap hit spread out over the next eight years.
