OT: Goalies Gone Wild - TSN segment

TSN just finished one of their Top 10 mini-segments entitled "Goalies Gone Wild". The O&B, as you can imagine, were well represented. There were:
  • Hextall's slash on Nielsen (Oilers) in the SC finals
  • Garth Snow fighting Steve Shields
  • Hextall fighting Felix Potvin
  • Barnabe jumping Snow
  • And number 1 .... Hextall (who else?) exacting revenge on Chris Chelios for Brian Propp.

Hextall was on to give his POV on his multiple appearances. On the fight versus Potvin, where Hextall was covered in blood. "Who won the fight? Well, I did. He bled all over me!"

On the Propp incident, they interviewed Hextall about the pregame shenanigans in an earlier game. Hextall and Keenan were interviewed. Keenan said he practically had to lock Hextall in the dressing room. Hextall was begging Keenan to let him go on, but Keenan wouldn't let him.

Then on the Chelios incident, Hextall said that, apparently Holmgren (coach at the time) told everyone that the team would take the loss and not go after anyone. "I guess I missed that message, not being on the bench," Hextall said.

Another in the Top 10 was Emery's fight (while he was with the Senators) with Biron, then with Peters. The commentators were zoning in on Emery's smile like he was having a ball.

Hextall would have destroyed Roy has they gone at it.

Did Hextall ever fight Billy Smith? Smith had a wicked temper and wasnt afraid to use his stick.

Roy got his ass kicked by Chris Osgood too. Its too bad that Hextall didnt go with Roy the night that Hextall killed Chelios.
Roy looked like a brave guy challenging hextall while the refs had him restrained.

Didn't that come out a couple of months ago? Even if it didn't, I'm pretty sure the Biron-Emery fight was featured, which has a strong connection with the Flyers even if neither played for them at the time, and Neil Little of the Phantoms jumping a pile of players to fight the other goalie was mentioned at least once too.

So 5 of the 10 were Flyers? Awesome.

Ron Hextall is and will always be my favorite player ever.

It was a few weeks back - we were talking about it in one of the game threads, I believe.

I honestly was hoping that Hextall would use his stick on Chelios after what he did to Propp. Just take that freaking head right off with one shot.

You could have done a top 10 with only Hextall clips. Many of my opponents wish i didn't idolize hexy growing up. They'd be alot less bruised.

I do seem to remember garth snow fighting all 3 Sabre's goalies and rob ray one year, i think he beat rob ray.

Snowy and hextall were perfect together, i always got the feeling they really got along well and liked each other.

No problem! I loved the piece - it was awesome. It's just a bit of a challenge to find the video clip (I love TSN but their site is a dog to try to find something).

No. I'm pretty sure he fought goalies just twice: Alain Chevrier (win) and Felix Potvin (loss).

There really needs to be more line brawls in today's NHL.

From his comments in NHL 11, one could assume Bill Clement would be for this.

"How about... 5 to go?"

In interview, Hextall said he really didn't care whom he hit at that point, and said he offers no apologies. Imagine the suspension he'd get for that in 2010; at least 20 games, including the remainder of the playoffs.
