when other teams are scoring handfuls of goals in other games, our shots are getting blocked or are taken from weak angles, and Antropov isn't ready to play, I'm getting a little concerned.
Pettersson has been slapped with bad partners 2 nights in a row. Time to give the goal scorers a chance to play together.
With less than 3 mins. left in the game, Thorburn's line was out there. That tells me that they were the guys Ramsay was leaning on down the stretch. Says very bad things being that they are 4th line material anywhere else in the NHL>
Trying to stay patient, but time is slipping away and we play Washington and a tough Western swing to start the year. Sorry bout the doom and gloom, but if we don't get cranking, it's going to start causing doubt with the players. They will start trying to do too much and/or do stupid stuff to become self-fulfilling.
We better get 3 goals and a win on Wednesday or I'm going into FULL PANIC MODE ala ASF.
a big sigh of relief to read C-Viv's blog in the AJC....Ramsay told him today that the next thing the guys must work on is to stop flying 3 forwards ithrough the crease after a shot.
Nice to see that what we as fans see happening is the same general thing that the coach sees. Our guys have a bad habit (for years) of skating fly-bys past the goal, or around the goal after a shot and no one stays in the high slot for a big juicy rebound.
Ramsay says that has to stop. I want to see someone in baby blue own the slot on Wednesday.
not scoring in preseason is no big issue for me. half the top 6 isnt playing and the lines change every game. generally teams arent really trying to gear up for the season with the real roster until the last game or two
Preds fan that attended the game, some quick observations for your benefit:
Final score should have been about 5-2 on the part of the Preds. Ice was pretty bad, and chemistry still isn't there. Thrashers(Stewart) missed a WIDE OPEN goal, Preds somehow missed two or so. The fifth goal is the empty net that I believe should have counted. Anyway, preseason, no big deal. On to your players:
Good:
Anthony Stewart, Nic Bergfors(best player overall for you guys, IMO), Kane, Zubarev
Bad:
Byugflien(was completely invisible for most of the game until a semi-dirty hit on Smithson at the end...really think he needs to play F if he's going to be worthwhile), Peverley(turnover after turnover), Hainsey(usually a big fan, but he was having all kinds of trouble getting the puck out of your zone...really seemed frustrated by the Preds' forecheck)
Other:
Burmistrov rang a shot off the post in the second, but OVERALL, I don't think he looks "there" yet. Went through stretches of watching the game rather than playing in it, and seemed a little overwhelmed. Can definitely see the potential.
Andrew Ladd was always a thorn in the side of the Preds when he was with Chicago, but wasn't much of a factor in this game. A little disappointing.
Pavelec wasn't tested a whole lot...Preds had a decent amount of shots, but most were pretty routine saves. First goal was Kostitsyn somehow being ALL ALONE in the slot and redirecting a Weber slap-pass through the five hole. Second goal was a Weber blast from the point that went through heavy traffic and straight in--again, not much he could do, no way he saw it.
Everyone else...if I didn't mention them, they weren't really noticeable, good or bad. Overall, I'd say your fourth line was your best tonight, in terms of getting chances and not looking shaky through the neutral zone. One thing you guys will need to cut out...a LOT of coughing up the puck in your own end...like..having full possession, then letting a forechecker strip it clean off the stick and turning the play back around. The Preds were able to pretty easily execute that all night...the only really obvious call out I can make.
I haven't posted in this thread or any of the other preseason threads because i cant watch preseason and even if i could preseason means nothing. I don't even care to listen to it. All it is, is evalutating players. I'll judge the team when real players are in not fake chris stewart, which the only reason hes playing is because they saw his brother just had a 28 goal season so now they think fake chris stewart will do it, and guys like mahacek, Deveaux(i dont even know who that scrub is), and Rismiller.

Thanks for the report
Hopefully Ramsay will come in as an objective viewer, see how useless Hainsey is, then put him on the 3rd pairing or tell Dudley to figure out how to get rid of his stupid ass.
Except Pre-Season is the most crucial time for this team as we have a completely overhauled identity, System, Coach, Staff. If Ramsay is getting them to learn system 2. But they are still doing stuff from system 1. We're screwed.
These "bums" Are guys who are giving it there all for when guys like Antropov, Slater, Anyone on our roster, To see how they keep up at the NHL level. Would you rather have rissmiller and dawes not playing a preseason game against some NHL competition, let them go to the AHL, and when Antro gets hurt, who do you call up?
I Frankly don't think Pre-Season is meaningless at all for this team. For Teams that havent had gigantic shake ups, Sure it might not be. But with a ton of new players, and a completely different system(Not a modified JA one), This is crucial.
Looks like we'll finally see Antro tomorrow night per Viv.
I will believe this when I see it. Let's try and get some of the reg. line combos going and work on our PP. Send down who they know won't be staying and let the team gel!
