Come on guys, all we have to do is clear some salary room for when C.C. opts out of NY after 2011. Done deal.

I'm going to get a laugh out of the whole situation when he opts out only to sign with.......... The Yankees.

I am wary of positional Japanese players. Or an Asian player for that matter. Their game is sooooo different from the MLB.

BTW Harris was traded as well. Wow that's two major trades the front office swung and miss on; Santana for...nothing and Garza for Young.

Its sad we got more out of the Luis Castillo trade (Butera) than we did the Johan Santana Trade.

I wouldn't say they swung and missed on the Garza-Delmon deal. He carried us at times last year. I guess, at this point, you could say they fouled it off and stayed alive.

True and Garza for some bizarre reason didn't like Minnesota but still...

We won't get a front line starter, we have one that has a good shot at becoming one if he isn't one already. Liriano. We still have a good lineup and we should compete for the AL Central and pray that we beat the Yankees in the postseason. The Twins have done a good job in the past of building the bullpen on the fly during the season, so I'm thinking they will do a good job of it again.

I can't wait to see some baseball again though.
couple of things.

1.) The Hardy trade netted us two pretty mediocre at best relief pitchers. They throw hard, but one includes a 24 y/o stuck in A or AA. Neither is anything special.

2.) After Liriano, there is a vast gap in #2 or #3 pitchers. Baker and Slowey at times fill it, but they themselves are far too inconsistent to relied upon.

I also don't trust Pavano if we sign him again. The guy may get injured and miss half the year.

3.) Lastly, we need a CF. I think Span needs to move to RF and we need a CF who can hit and field. I like Span, but I'm not completely sold on his CF defence, if we get a legit CF who can play good D and hit a solid .280-.285 avg, chip in 15 HR and have a solid .330-.350 obp, it'd be ideal. (pray for Rasmus).

The latter two, we REALLY need. Because as it stands, both the Chi-Sox and the Tigers improved a fair bit this offseason. Tigers got some protection for Miggy, and the Chi-Sox added a pretty consistent 40 HR hitter.

Seriously. Wonder if the Twins will now retire #28.
