Good luck from a caps fan here. Any observations from Preds fans are appreciated especially from those going to the game.

Caps fan here, is your radio announcer unbearable to listen to because ours is pretty bad?

Pete and Terry can be obnoxious because they tend to ramble on about nothing at times when the puck is in play. Drives me crazy. Tom is a pretty good radio PBP guy I think.

Just got in from tonights game....

I've been to lots of preseason games over the years, and this would have to qualify as the single most ragged game i've seen at the arena. The goalies were decent and Halishuk had a nice goal, but nobody else really made a great case for themselves. We'll probably continue to look at kosytsyn carefully as to whether he makes the club. Parent and Johnson on defense seemed ok but without a lot of physical presence. Ryan Ellis had a below average game today.

Awesome backhand pass from behind the net from Colin Wilson found a wide open Halischuk who buried it.

Agree. Very little physical play. It just seemed like no body was stepping up their game. Ellis I think was trying but he doesn' t look like he reads plays well, or just can't pass well. Wilson still doesn't shoot. Dumont looked like he was in season form also not shooting. On the bright side, Horny is working hard, and Goc has impressed me a lot. I guess because all the Habs fans hate him, but I'm really pulling for SK. He has shown me nothing bad, but also nothing great. To be fair, I think the Caps iced a more veteran team tonight and I thought did pretty well to keep it a close game even though we should have won. I can't believe Lombardi missed a wide open net by a mile!

I was expecting a higher scoring game, but even with the bad offense I saw a few positives.

Ryan Ellis won't make the team this season but he will be better than Blum. He had some mistakes but then had some great plays like gloving a puck down and getting a shot on net in no time at all.

Ryan Parent is more physical that I though he would be. He was battling with Washington's gorilla on skates (75) and he was throwing a few hits.

Sully is looking at full speed moreso than last year.

Blake Geoffrion should make the team as a face-off specialist, though we don't have any spots.

I meant to say that in my first post! He is a faceoff king.

Wilsons pass was a beauty, good shot by Halischuk. I thought Kostitsyn and Dumont played well.

i didn't think we played that badly. nothing special, and the difference in the game was the pp.

one guy impressed me, and he will never see the light of nhl day becasue of his overall quickness, but brett palin played pretty darn well. had a good first pass, handled weight well, and seperated man from puck all night. don't remember seeing him out of position too much. all around solid night.

and lindback, that maroon just bounced off him at the blue line. he could have crushed him.

Some random thoughts from section... whatever-they-put-me-in-tonight:

Halischuk had a good game in addition to the goal. The pass from Wilson was SWEET.

Wilson had a solid game. Very solid.

Parent was very solid as well- I feel much better. He had more presence that I expected.

Ryan Ellis, while he still needs LOTS of work, already runs a PP better than anyone on our team. It was particularly on display once he finished sucking up to Shea by feeding the first 25 passes to his partner and actually considered other options. To me, he looks like he clicks at a faster pace mentally on the PP than anyone else on the ice-- really amazing. The rest of his game.... not so much so. He needs to get bigger AND faster, which is not a great combo.

Johnson/Sulzer. In the first half of the game, I was fully prepared to say Johnson makes the team and Sulzer does not. Second half, flipped my view. Someone needs to step up.

Weber- still some rust.

Sully- no rust and looks much better than the start of last year.

Kostitsyn looks alot like Erat to me minus the eternal skating with the puck. He was forechecking hard tonight and had some decent passes, though not a spectacular evening.

Lindback- I think we have our backup. He is too similar to Peks to go with someone else IMO. His style will allow the team to play the same way with either goalie in net, which was sorely lacking last year.

In all, it's very hard to get a read on guys with so many moving parts and so little chemistry.

chemistry is a huge deal right now with all those rookies out there, but it just seems to me that most of the game, we were getting beat to pucks, or out muscled on the puck. caps wanted the puck more than we did tonight.

i see ellis' upside, but it aint there yet.

while dumont isnt shooting as much as we want, he has a lot more drive so far this season. he actually drove to the net tonight!

i also was happy with johnson, think he will be on the team.

OUR PP IS STILL ATROCIOUS!!! HOW DO YOU DO THE SAME THING YEAR AFTER YEAR AND EXPECT SOMETHING TO CHANGE?!!

hope we have more of the actual team monday. ready to start ripping apart the real team

as far as the caps go, thought eakin and beagle looked good

Anyone else surprised Blum was sent down so soon? I was not sure that he would make the regular season but thought he may get more of " a look " before going to Milwaukee.
Blake Geoffrion was good on faceoffs, and Wilson ( up until the last few minutes of the game) was leading with 69%. ( he will probably end up on the wing though). Good to see he did well though.
Preds must be dressing Pickard for tommorrow? It would be nice to see him in real action.
