HF Sens Fall 2010 Prospects Rankings

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/article...tawa_senators/

1. (1) Erik Karlsson, D, 8.0B
2. (2) Jared Cowen, D, 8.0C
3. (NR) David Rundblad, D, 7.5C
4. (3) Patrick Wiercioch, D, 7.5C
5. (5) Robin Lehner, G, 7.5C
6. (6) Louie Caporusso, C, 7.0C
7. (NR) Roman Wick, RW, 7.0C
8. (NR) Bobby Butler, RW, 7.0D
9. (8) Jakob Silfverberg, C, 6.5C
10. (15) Chris Wideman, D, 7.0C
11. (9) Zack Smith, C, 6.5C
12. (4) Jim O'Brien, C, 6.5C
13. (NR) Jakub Culek, C, 7.0D
14. (16) Eric Gryba, D, 6.5C
15. (14) Kaspars Daugavins, LW, 6.5C
16. (10) Erik Condra, RW, 6.5C
17. (NR) Markus Sorensen, C, 7.0D
18. (11) Andre Petersson, LW, 7.0D
19. (NR) Mike Hoffman, C, 7.0D
20. (NR) Corey Cowick, LW, 6.5C

What do you think? I def think its an improvement over the last one. Anything to get Jim O Brien outa the top 10.

Dont really know why Petersson fell so much. Maybe because the author used his draft size (5'9 169pounds) over his current measurements (5'10, 176)

Jesus it's still terrible, Petersson getting beat by Sorenson and Obrien

Why don't they just use the fans rankings in these boards since they know their more about their team's prospects than these crappy reporters.

Switch Smith with Caporusso and Wideman with Gryba and I think it looks good. Petersson is right where he belongs.

Nice to see that Karlsson still qualifies.

Wait. What?

Is there ONE thing in the whole article that is correct?

I'm so confused.

Is Karlsson still a "Prospect" I thought a prospect played less NHL games than he has

Who is Chris Roberts?

Anyways, the rankings are strange. Why is Caporusso at 6 after the year he just had? I think he could possibly take that space after a bounce back year and possibly another Hobey Baker nomination but he's too high on this list, especially when you take into consideration Bobby Butler is behind him by 2.

Hoffman and Petersson are so low... They should easily be ahead of O'Brien, Sorensen, Wideman Culek, Condra and Daugavins. Also, Gryba needs to be ahead of Wideman. That one seems blatantly obvious.

And where the heck is Derek Grant?

Well you see, even though he lead the WJC in scoring along with Canadian hero Jordan Eberle, he's an Ottawa Senators forward prospect. Thus, he sucks.

according to hockey futures you are a prospect until 65 games played or 25 (not certain the age is correct but there is an age cap aswell) As Karlsson played 60 games last year he is still a prospect until the third week of October.

Is this the list from the summer polls, or just your list?

Well it is marginally better then past writers. But still pretty brutal. Petersson, and Hoffman are far too low on the list. No Derek Grant is a head scratcher too...

Hockey Futures has done a lousy job covering the Sens for as long as I can remember, but you'd think Roberts would do a little research before posting his article. The funniest thing was his suggestion that the Sens will trade Wiercioch at the deadline because they have so much depth on the blueline.

Regardless, the website isn't going to change how it does things--if Roberts disappears it won't be someone more knowledgable who replaces him.

If there's one thing I've learned from HF boards, its that depth is apparently a bad thing. Too much of a good thing is bad, I suppose. It goes against what I previously thought but it must be correct.

I expect he'll begin his defense with a question.

"Guys, who the hell is Mike Hoffman?"

In defense of the writer, my guess on Peterson and Hoffman is the low rating is due simply to size. Now, as I recall Murray did say that Hoffman would be in the NHL, it is just a question of when. So....... Murray or the writer... I go with Murray

oohhh and has anybody noticed that out 19th ranked guy (Hoffman), outplayed Toronto's number 1 ranked guy in the preseason and rookie tournament... just sayin' :p

I don't buy that for a second to be perfectly honest.

Hoffman that low? I'd see him in between 10-15 spot.
