Whoa...That sucks

Now that I think about it, I did not see any hit that left Regehr limping off or anything, Its possible that the cast is just a minor sprain that they arn't taking chances with it...i'm sure we will hear word on monday.

It depends how serious is it. If it's just a minor fracture then I think he'll play. If it's more serious... I just might have to let it go and not play.

In spring 2003 when Tappara won the finnish championship, Tappara's forward Marko Ojanen played with a broken ankle for four games. The last game went to third overtime. He said that the ankle was beginning hurt like hell after the first overtime (local anaesthesia begun to wore out) but he decided to play it. After all, it was the championship game. His preparation for the next season was seriously affected by it. I don't doubt Regehr is the lesser man in this situation.

For anyone else, I'd expect them to play, but with Regehr's injury history (broke both his legs in a major car accident that killed a friend) I wouldn't risk his career for this game.

Indeed, it's game freaking 7. Unless you've lost a leg, you're playing.

You guys know the seriousness of Regehr's injury, don't you?

It was thought for months that Regehr's career was over when he broke both his legs. That's how bad it was.

Even today, some 5-6 years later, Regehr still gets treatments for his legs and still has pins in his legs from his car accident injury.

I mean, 2 of the 4 passengers were killed. That's how bad the accident was.

I always am amazed that readers can determine the severity and pain of an injury. I think the player is going to play if he feels that he can assist the team. Who is anyone to question that decision?

When he was 19, him and 3 friends were driving home, and got into an life threatening accident on the highway. 2 will killed, Regehr survived with 2 broken legs, broken ribs, and concussion among others. For months, his career was supposed to be over, but one day, he started skating, and a month later, he suited up for his hockey game.

A year or two ago, they did a story on him, saying that his rehab would go on for the rest of his life, that he would have to continually get treatment and that pins were still in his legs.

I'm surprised he's even walking, let alone playing hockey at an elite level.

My thoughts exactly. No way he misses the game unless he can't walk at all. Regehr at 50% is better than anyother d-man we have anyways. If he wasn't on crutches like it said in the paper, I would expect him to play.

One report says that Regehr didn't make the trip to Tampa

Another says that Sutter, Iginla and co. said he's going to play

Beats me

If he can walk, he has to play.

You play in the NHL to win a Stanley Cup. If you are one game away you give everything you can to get in that game.

The rest of his career could be on the line by playing the game? Yeah...and he easily could never have another chance at the Cup again.

The fact that he has come back form such severe injuries and overcame adversity in the past, to me, is a testament that if he can conceivably play he will, regardless of the risks.

McKenzie says he wasn't on the bus when it arrived to the hotel in Tampa. Even though I am very much pulling for Tampa...I would hate to see Regehr miss this game. He is such a solid player and a huge reason why they are where they are now.
