@DarrenDreger: A number of teams seem interested in one of SJ's goaltenders. *Greiss is a likely target. Maybe Minny?
It probably is Greiss.

Watch Griess become a top 5 goalie while we are stuck with a bottom 10 goalie... Combined.
I would laugh, then cry, then wonder how many more times Niemi can screw us.

I agree, but if teams have a top-4 expendable, I don't care which goalie goes. Griess has more value that Niity (we just signed him too). I wonder what else teams would give up for Griess. Maybe another good player prospect. Griess is pretty close to starter ready, although doesn't deserve to be one on any contender. When Sekera and Butler were offered in a package for Clowe, I loved the look of them on our blue line. A Griess for Butler or Sekera would be nothing but positive for the organization. Their low cap hits would also leave room for another top-4. Huskins would most likely be dumped if another top-4 came in.

Boyle-Murray
Vlasic-Top-4
Butler-Demers
Wallin

or...

Boyle-Murray
Vlasic-Butler/Demers
Wallin-Butler/Demers
Huskins

Minnesota is an obvious choice.

But there seems to be more than one team out there interested in a "solid backup with the possibility of challenging for #1, trained by Strelow" guy. Which would be a good opportunity for a guy like Greiss.

Stalock might be getting looks as well. Sateri showed good form in his first North American camp.
And other teams in need of depth at goal can only drool over the Sharks having NINE goalies under NHL contract.

you could say that about a dozen other goalies in the league.

Bah, I drafted Niemi in one fantasy league and Nitty in another. This goalie stuff is going to drive me nuts

I would keep all our goalies unless a top 4 defenceman was coming back or at least a cheap, young skilled winger.

And why would DW move Niitty if he went out of his way to get Niitty's permission to acquire Niemi? Seems like a non-player's GM thing to do.

Also, I still don't see Clowe getting moved. He is out there at public events repping the sharks org and seems to be one of the guys on DWs list of "core" players, mostly from the directed comments in interviews and such.

However, we know that DW will do whatever he ****ing wants so maybe we'll see Clowe ship to Vancouver for a second round bust.

I think he's referring to that phenomenon known as potential vs actual

Minnesota is allegedly OK with Anton Khudobin as their backup.

I'd look more at Philly now, considering that Michael Leighton hurt his back and is out for a month or so.

Im still surprised Philly hasnt made a move yet for a goalie. Greiss can hold the fort behind that team.

i read the rumor on espn insider. they said niittimaki is also drawing interest. he could be a sign-and-trade. Shocker!! Niemi seems to be safe, as he is the only goalie with a Stanley Cup ring. he wasnt even mentioned in the rumor. Griess/Niittimaki could be traded soon.

I'd really only want Coburn from Philly, so how much would the Sharks have to add considering he was just signed this off-season?
I guess you can say Carle as an option as well, not so much that the Sharks need him, but they could use him. Still would have to add though.

Would love to get Braydon Coburn from the Flyers for Nitty, keep Greiss, and put Wallin/Huskins in the #7 defenseman slot. The contract lengths are the same between players but saves the Flyers $1.2M in cap space and gives them a better option for a starter. The Flyers have defensemen to spare and we have 1A/B goalies to spare.

If Stalock is traded I am going to be apoplectic. Kid has done nothing but shine... trading him now when nobody outside of SJ knows him would be ridiculous, especially given how cheaply goalies often end up moving for in trades.

He might get looks but DW better hang up laughing...

I'd love Coburn too, but the Sharks are not dealing from a position of strength (3 goalies) and that needs to be recognized.

I think we'd have to add significantly. Maybe a good prospect, 1st, not sure.

Greiss
Irwin
2nd

Something like that maybe.
