So glad Taylor is back he was dominate last year and really dissevered another shot as a starter, but now we have Taylor, Brust, Ortio, and one of Karlsson or Irving for the 2 positions on the heat, I guess Ortio won't be coming back this season and Karlsson is traded.
Ortio certainly won't be coming back, and I would bet on Karlsson heading back to Europe when/if he's assigned. Irving won't be going to (if there is a season) as he will be claimed.
Do we still have Andrew Engelage under contract? He was the main goalie in Utah last year.
I also really like the Taylor signing, but am confused with the Brust signing.
That's alot of goalies on 1 year contracts, their play this year (and even this fall) will dictate the pecking order.
It all makes for an interesting battle at training camp.
Any guessing on what Abby's line-up is going to look like next year?
Have a lot of Cs right now, I wonder which will be playing wing. Among AHL vets, we have Krys Kolanos, Ben Walter, and Ben Street, who are all good enough to be scoring line AHL Cs.
They also have Reinhart incoming, who they should really be using as a top 2 C but maybe let him work into the AHL slowly on the 3rd line. I also wish Horak starts in the AHL (so he's not stuck in a checking role) but then that's another C. I believe Bancks has usually been a C.
They should probably try loan Walter to another AHL team and move Street to wing. So, optimistically, assuming no lockout:
I'd have Reinhart and Horak as the top two centres. Horak ought to be fine since he's already played a season in the NHL, and I don't think Reinhart is the kind of player who will need to be coddled at that level.
This is the first season in for-ev-er that I've actually held some interest in the Flames' AHL team.
