Monarchs win 2-1 over the Charlotte Checkers (Hurricanes)

Just watched the game on AHL Live.

Martin Jones was FANTASTIC! and won the game for the Monarchs! Monarchs where sloppy in the back end and let up way to many scoring chances. where out shot 37-24 but as I said Jones stood on his head in his first ever AHL game. I also thought Voynov had a nice game and I would consider ahead him over Hickey right now. (imo)

Goals:

Meckler (Zeiler)

Elkins (Kozun, Voynov) (PP)

Good to hear that Jones had a strong debut. The problem with Jones is his consistency. I don't think anyone's questioning his ability, at this point.

Disagree, Jones was on dominate Junior teams (especially 2 years ago) it will be interesting to see how he plays when he isn't always on the superior team. Many Junior goalies flaws were masked by being on great teams.

When everyone is healthy, what are the lines like in Manchester? Im curious to know if Moller is just playing wing or also getting center time. Thanks

see post #45 and #85

it's been hard getting reports for the lineups, and things can and do change from game to game with new guys coming into the line-ups also ... but those lines I posted were pretty close if not bang on.

8 games in, Alec Martinez is already a +7!!!

What's it gunna take to get this guy into the NHL? Methinks he might be slightly too good for the AHL.....

Well, yes and no. From the stat sheet (http://www.monarchshockey.com/stats.php), it looks as if Moller has only played in 4 of the Monarch's 8 games so far. One would imagine he's injured.

EDIT: Nevermind. I didn't see the OP's comment "when everyone is healthy". Oops!!

Yep ... already discussed in the thread and it's on the Front Page, Moller took a shot to the Head, and/or fell hit head / cracked helmet on the Ice from said hit, and came up saying "hey why's the room spinning?" and he's being handled with kid gloves as it looks like a rather bad concussion. {again, going from what little I've picked up reading online, no official word by the Team has been posted about his condition }

He is kind of at a disadvantage because he's been up like 4 times, and stunk up the joint.

Alec Martinez has played 4 games with the Kings. One where he was injured early on cutting his minutes down to less than 6mins on average.

One call up, four games. He played pretty well for a true rookie in his first two games and then had a less than average game and then was injured.

He was a minus 2 during his four games with the team but then, he was paired with one of our less than stellar plus minus players for the most part.

Nope, just the one.

I have a bit of a bias towards the kid because his billet family and I go back a ways. I only met him a few times before we picked him up but he is a solid guy. Wants to be a King and has the attitude of playing harder and better until they can't say no.

I think he is NHL ready and while not as naturally talented as Muzz or Hickey he is right there with any of our other pmd types. I hope he gets his chance, with us or another team.

If Martinez wants to play in the NHL, he needs to be traded or sign with another team. The Kings are too deep on defense and he's already behind younger defensemen.

The same can be said about everyone who's name isn't Hickey, Voinov and or Muzzin. The only thing helping Forbort is that he was recently drafted. We are way too deep on D and absolutely can afford to deal a couple of the kids.

Dean will probably move one of them after he gets Johnson and Doughty signed to new contracts.

Dancing Boy tweeted that they are working on a three year deal with Johnson for around $3.5 million per. Sounds about right for Johnson. Doughty could be $4-7 million per depending on the length of the deal.

Thanks, I can stop searching now. I found a small article saying he was injured and likely going to Manchester but that was it. No updates or anything

Teubert's still on the IR w/ a Wrist injury and therefore on the KINGS roster until he's healed up, then off to Manchester.

Technically he can still be on the Kings roster even if he is rehabbing in Man. However, once he is able to play in a game, the Kings will activate Teubert and assign him to Man to make it official. They can't "assign" him before he's healthy because he can't be "activated" before healthy.
