Yeah it wasn't his best game but he's probably gassed. His team played Friday night on the road in Halifax, traveled by bus all day Saturday to play another game on the road in Bathurst Sunday, then he had to travel another 700km to Victoriaville yesterday to play that game last night.

He was on the ice for both goals against, but if you look at the replays, the first goal he was trying to cover for his d-partner's blown coverage and on the 2nd one, while Gormley was following the puck carrier behind the net again his d-partner was off having a big mac and left the Russian guy wide open.

I don't know why but that Big Mac comment made me laugh hysterically.

nonsense... a player like Gormley doesn't play his way off the team in one Subway Super Series game... Team Canada aren't that dumb.

Saw the Bulls and Generals play tonight.

Lessio has been great so far this year, one of the few players who hasn't underachieved on Oshawa to start 2011. He appears to have figured out how to harness his speed to his advantage and is finishing off his scoring chances with more consistency. Part of that comes from an increased willingness to play that dirty role in front of the net...the prototypical crease crasher. He had a couple of nice rushes tonight, although nothing that created a serious scoring chance. Although one did draw a penalty, as he got hauled down on a partial breakaway. As long as he continues to play with high energy every shift, Lessio will continue to be an impact player.

Louis Domingue still dominating Q goaltenders.

10-2-1-1
2.18 GAA
0.933 SAV%
2 SO

He's the principal reason why Quebec is over-achieving (they're 2nd overall but shouldn't be).

Although he's had a rough start overall (due to groin injury) Visentin has posted back to back shutouts in recent days. I believe he's already matched his shutout totals of last year (4) even though his save percentage is still below that 0.900 threshold. Positive signs.

Last weekend Gormely had 5 points in 2 games. This after a disappointing game against the Russians. I believe he has already exceeded his goal total of last year as well in about half the number of games. Hopefully he makes that WJC team. Would love to see him on a larger stage.

Philip Lane was a -4 last night with no points. What is it with the Coyotes and the 2nd round? I know one game is not a season but we need some of our forward prospects who can exceed expectations.

As a Battalion fan I can tell you that that particular game was painful to watch. Phil Lane on the other hand has found purpose in his 3rd year with us. I'm actually very pleased with his play.

Kessy and Weller drop the gloves in the Med Hat\Red Deer tilt tonight. Should make camp interesting next year.

http://www.whl.ca/schedule/show/game/59669

Have to check out hockey fights later to see who won the tilt.

Kessy is a bit of a bad ass - prolly looking at a suspension again.

Gormley, Visentin and Domingue going to Canada's December WJC camp but Lessio didn't make the cut.

LOL I hope Visentin and Domingue get along well, they're going to be competing against each other for a long time.

Connor Murphy expected back mid-December.

I'll add a link if no one else posts it shortly.

Apparently, the Coyotes have set a date for his return sometime in mid-November. Hopefully he can get playing and stay healthy because this pick has been questionable at this point.

Edit: Haha, beat me to it. You must be following his Twitter account too.

Video section on Canadian WJC team. Good piece on Visentin and Gormely considered as a lock for the team.

It was a big loss against a bad team but it was Murphy's first game of the season and most of his key team mates were out with injuries.

Quote:
On a positive note defenceman Connor Murphy played his first game in a Sting uniform. He had knee surgery back in August and has not played a game.

“It was fun until we started losing,” said Murphy. “The loss hurts. It’s a team we were supposed to beat.”

Murphy added, “My conditioning was good. I’ve been working hard with coach Letowski and coach Galchenyuk on my skating to get ready to play. My timing was off. My passes and breakouts were a little off. I got some shots through offensively. But I need to do better in keeping the puck out of our net.”

Beaulieu liked what he saw with Murphy. “He looked okay. It’s going to take a bit to get his legs. It’s December and he’s three months behind everybody else. That’s pretty tough, but all in all, not too bad.”

Murphy notched his first career OHL point on Craig Hottot’s goal in the first period.

Game #2 last night.

Domingue and Visentin shared a shutout. Visentin benefited from a quick whistle on one play but obviously played solid.

Visentin allowed 1 goal in the shootout contest. Domingue let in 2 (most of the 4 goalies).

Gormely played solid. Looked more comfortable overall and started to get some pucks on net. Seen one column where he was called the best D man so far. Playing more of a shutdown role. Had one of the two goals last night into the empty net (from his own zone). Considered a lock at this point.

Visentin and Bunz are the goalies. Domingue was cut today.

Looks like Gormley is in, too.
