I wouldn't bet agin ya on that one. The improvement in Lane's number has certainly been far from spectacular.

It probably boils down to whether or not there's room for the contract. Ross will be coming off the reserve list (I doubt they'd offer him anything beyond an AHL contract) so DM might think about taking a flyer based on Lane's size.

On the other hand he appears to be border-line brittle so the smarter decision might be to cut bait right now.

I wonder if they're still giving Shinnimin (Tri-Cities) consideration for a contract? The kid can definitely put up the points.

If I remember correctly Shinnimin actually got an ELC from Maloney after the last rookie camp. They really liked him. Can anyone confirm?

I believe you are right in that they did have some good things to say about him but I don't think they signed him. Capgeek would show a contract and I don't see Shinnimin listed.

Connor Murphy with a goal today against London. +2 and named 2nd star of the game today as well. Gives him 7 G and 15 PTS in 23 games.

Lessio with a goal as well today. He now sits at 28 on the season which is ahead of last years goal scoring totals.

OK, maybe I didn't get it when the Coyotes assigned him to Portland for their camp before returning him to Juniors. And all his hockey pictures have him in a Coyotes jersey.

I watch the Generals almost on a regular basis and just wanted to give you guys and update on Lucas Lessio. He currently has 51 points in 56 games played this season. I will tell you this, he is very fast and is probably if not one of the fastest skaters in the OHL. He has very good skill and is great at reading the play. Everytime you watch the Generals you will notice him because he is just so dominate on the ice. Only thing lacking is that he needs to build up more strength. He sometimes gets pushed off the puck easily. Other then that he is very fast and skilled player. Number 1 thing he has going for himself is speed.

Bio:
http://oshawagenerals.com/roster/show/id/6838

Stats last year compared to this season so far:

2010-2011: 66 GP, 27 G, 27 A, 54 points

2011-2012: 56 GP, 28G, 23 A, 51 points

How often does he use that speed to backcheck?

He is very good at back checking and because he is so fast he can get back quick. Some of the games i have seen, he has made it back to his own end before the center has. A few games ago the opponent was on a breakaway and he managed to get back just in time to lift the stick, the center was not even close to getting back.

Visintin breaks record

Visintin breaks a 60+ year record for shutouts with his 10th.

NIAGARA'S MR. CLEAN
If strong goaltending is indeed needed to win in the playoffs, watch out for the Niagara IceDogs.
'Cuz there's none hotter than IceDogs stopper Mark Visentin.
Visentin recorded his OHL-record 10th shutout of the season Saturday in Sault Ste. Marie. That's 10 shutouts in 36 starts, which translates to one ever 3.6 games.........

been awhile since I put out my thoughts on our Top 10 so here goes....

1) D Gormely - Top D man at the WJC.
2) D Rundblad - Elite offensive skills
3) G Visentin - Reigning OHL goalie of the year
4) D Summers - Ready for permanent spot in NHL
5) C Miele - Needs to get stronger and adjusted to pro game
6) RW MacLean - Needs to deliver when he gets his next opportunity
7) D Murphy - Injuries a concern; talent is not
8) LW Brown - Leading his team in scoring on a top ranked team in the NCAA
9) D Stone - Another year of AHL experience required
10) G Domingue - Could be Robert Esche to Visentin's Patrick Desrocher

Honorable Mention
LW Tikhonov - may never play in the NHL again.

I'd probably have the same ten in a different order, except I'd drop MacLean completely out and add Lessio.

I really liked the Lessio pick at the draft, after the sketchy Murphy pick, Lessio was the highlight of the draft in my eyes. His interviews, stats, and reviews were all pretty impressive

Wasn't the knock on Lessio his work ethic? Those picks rarely work out and if they do make it to the NHL, they still leave a lot to be desired.

I agree, MacLean has lost "Top 10" status...as well as Tikhonov.

1 - Gormley (completely impressed, but needs to stay away from injury bug)
2 - Rundblad (too good not to be able to play a little defense)
3 - Visentin (back to normal after very slow start, confidence building)
4 - Summers (skates well, needs a little more strength, but he's a keeper)
5 - Murphy (skill is definitely there, now he needs to turn into Iron Man)
6 - Lessio (I'd like a PPG average and he's close)
7 - Stone (good signs so far)
8 - Domingue (really athletic, we'll see if it translates)
9 - Miele (has really lost slowed down late in season)
10 - Brown (has some real grit to his game, I'm hoping for a Winnik with better hands)

Stating that Shinnimin is on a tear is an understatement. Hopefully the Don had a handshake agreement and he'll be a Coyote\Pirate next year.

I sat a couple of rows behind Gormley and his family at the game last night. Didn't bother asking him any questions as he had enough on his plate with everyone else coming up to him for interviews and autographs and stuff. He is on crutches though and was putting no weight at all on the left leg. They said 4-6 weeks, but I'll tell you, if he plays again this season with the way he was hobbling around yesterday, I would be pretty surprised. I had no idea he was on crutches.

Have you heard what kind of injury it is?
