One thing jumped out at me - LL is certainly not afraid to go to the net. He should create some chances either for himself or his linemates.

Lee since coming back from injury: 4-3-0 1.86GAA .944SV%
Please let us keep him. With him I think we are a title contender, without him, another year like this one.

Lee may want to move on. Phoenix also has Visentin / Domingue who will both turn 20 next year and may be eligible to enter the AHL as soon as next season (if not then definitely the year after). Lee being older may want a head start on those two.

On the other hand, finishing college and having a championship team is certainly worthy.

It'll come down to what the 3 of them want.. there is plenty of space in the AHL, and a potential NHL backup job after a year or two.

I highly doubt he'll want to move on for the sake of moving on. He's a very good student and getting a degree is important to him. He's also a captain and leader of St. Cloud and he knows how good this group can be next season. I also do not believe him being older will have that much baring on it as goalies develop later anyway. The only thing I could see pulling him away would be a max offer by Phoenix

Goncharov may never play an NHL shift again.

I see the list that was provided Gintonio as an obvious plant. Nothing like pumping up the tires of a prospect who has lost his way in hopes of keeping him around the franchise for another year. I'm actually shocked that Goncharov rated #71 to be honest.

Overall, Coyote prospects didn't get a ton of love (outside the surprise inclusion of Goncharov in the top 75). Visentin was top goalie in the OHL last year and has posted better numbers and set league records this season. Granted he was dreadful early on so depending on when the list was composed it may have affected his ranking. Taken today, he's easily a part of the top 50 let alone the top 75.

I also disagree with the decision to exclude Rundblad from the discussion. He would be in the top 20 overall.

Lee named co-defensive player of the week. 2nd time he's won it since he came back.

rt, not sure if you keep up to date on the Sarnia Sting thread in the OHL section but there's some positive press on Connor Murphy's development over the last 3 months.

2 apples and a +2 after 2 periods tonight.

Edit: make it four apples and a slashing minor for good measure in a 4-0 win.

Here's the latest stats from our prospects:

Name, GP-G-A-Pts-PIMS
Shinniman, 67-58-73-131-80
Lessio, 64-29-27-56-104
Dziurzynski, 62-29-15-44-104
Lane, 51-15-23-38-90
Gormley, 35-10-22-32-22
Fritsch, 32-13-14-27-8
Murphy, 32-8-16-24-31
Kessy, 47-4-12-16-147
Ruopp, 59-2-7-9-121

I'm ecstatic that Murphy seems to be adjusting great to the OHL, especially after his injuries and I'm glad we've got Shinnimin in the fold, and happy that Lessio is having a good season.

But other than that, our forward prospects aren't impressive.

The only players drafted for skill from that list are Lessio, Gormley and Murphy. Everyone else was picked for bottom 6 roles. Stats are meaningless for those types. Once upon a time, Tyson Nash had 75 points in the WHL. The guys we picked like Kessy and Dziruzynski aren't supposed to be 'impressive' but the type of player you hate playing against.

Can't find the article but I read a tidbit earlier this week commenting on the adjustment made by Murphy (I think it was on THN's website).

Kessy stands out (negatively) to me. He was hyped as being that 3rd/4th line physical type player who could provide scoring. Not sure what happened but seeing a lot of goose eggs on the statlines.

I'm not sure if we offer Lane a contract this summer either. He has good size but I'm not sure we've seen enough points to justify a contract. I'm on the fence.

Kessy was concussed and just returned to the lineup ~ a coupla weeks ago. He started the year ok but certainly has tailed off.

He was putting up the PIM's and fighting majors with some consistency prior to the upper body injury.

I wouldnt say its meaningless. Even bottom 6 role players in the NHL were able to score at a PPG rate at junior or college level. Our most successful later round pick for that role is Dan Winnik and he still had a PPG rate. A few years ago I tried to find NHL forwards who didnt score at PPG and they were like hen's teeth. I found Scatchard and Landon Wilson. And skill is a higher premium nowadays. Our bottom six is now composed of players like Brule, Pouliot, Chipchura, Boedker, Langkow, Torres etc..

The forward prospects are weak by NHL standards and more importantly are showing little development or progress. That's why GMDM is recruiting players like Miele, Bernhardt and Shinny. And trying out O'Sullivan and getting Nokelainen back in.

Szwarz, Hextall, Bloodoff, Werek, Long have been ineffectual at AHL level. Lane, Fritsch and Kessy seem like more of the same. Maybe one will have a breakout season but it's very unlikely.

Sarnia was on Sportsnet tonight. Connor Murphy got lots of ice and played a decent game. He gives up the blue line with a little too much consistency but that's nothing a combination of coaching and experience won't correct.

That was a frustrating game to watch. First Galchenyuk injures his shoulder on a faceoff 4 periods into his season this year. That sound you heard immediately afterwards was the footsteps of about 50 scouts who immediately left. He's gone until the playoffs but his draft ranking will drop from this. No longer does he go top 5 IMO. He needs a strong playoff run to justify even a top 10 selection at this point.

Which brings us to Murphy who had his injury issues as well his draft year. His only saving grace (and the reason I actually cheered his selection) was the strength of his performance at the U-18's. Murphy put up a couple of goose eggs last night and was +2. Overall was fairly solid defensively although he did give up the blueline a couple of times. Has a great shot for a PP. Low and accurate. Perfect for tip ins and dangerous on its own. I found his use overall frustrating. He was having a decent game but went long stretches between shifts at times. Looks like a 3/4 guy.
