- Stafford continues to make things happen and generate chances.
- Roy converting to start the third
- Getting Brennan out there in front of the "hometown" folks.
- Lots of offense in the first...
The Bad -
- ....but no finish and no lead.
- Sloppy penalties, including 2 five-on-threes, the second one being avoidable by Gerbe who did not have the smartest night after a solid start.
The Ugly -
- Connolly going into the boards funny and coming up hobbled.
- Kassian getting Vanekitis and not making it out of the first period.
- How iffy the D is without Myers.
- Online feed issues. Seriously bad feeds tonight.

drew stafford looked like mogilny out there.
paul gaustad was showing his effectiveness in the neutral zone.
tj brennan had a beautiful rush.
fighting back in the 3rd
ennis makes everything on offense that much more interesting. (great defensive play)
bad
way too many penalty's
kassian needs to be a difference maker.
Good: I liked 90% of what I saw out of brennan. Thinking he's going to have a career here and might be up next year.
Roy, Staff, Ennis, Gerbe, a couple saves by Miller
Bad: still not impressed by any of the the bottom 2 pairing d guys. I think this pre-season might be the end of my Weber icon.
I'd like to have seen Enroth get some action. or Lalime. we know Miller's in the zone.
Hope Kassian's alright, but he showed nothing to make me think that 1st game was anything more than a fluke. send him down, see him next year.
Ugly: I was one click away from ordering the Weber jersey a couple of seasons ago thinking there was no way he was not going to be a Sabre for a long time. I'm off the juice.

Better than being a click too late and looking at a MacArthur jersey in the closet.

I hope Lalime gets the start on Sunday. Enroth will be getting plenty of playing time in Portland but who knows when Lalime is going to get the nod after Sunday...

oh yeah enroth..
now i totally see why people had him as our second best prospect.
Very encouraged to see Roy look in mid-season form already, given how he's been skating, diving to block shots/passes and that he's been in on 7 of the 13 Sabres goals scored in the 4 games he's played. I think the Flyer announcers mentioned last night that he leads the NHL in preseason scoring, for whatever that's worth. I'm not sure if it's a result of him being eager to erase the memories of his playoff no-show or not but it'd be nice to think it is.
Hopefully, he starts the year on a roll, which should in turn help Vanek and Stafford (or Gerbe) get going as well.

I feel your pain....I have a Stafford jersey in my closet. Got it after the 06-07 season. Maybe he'll make it worth wearing this year, although the fact that it's a slug jersey may negate anything Drew can do.
Solid IMO. He seems the prototypical "steady Eddie" defenseman that rarely gets caught out of position or burned by risky plays. He just goes about his business in a very routine, safe way. He looks like he can easily replace the role either Lydman or Tallinder occupied.
That said, judging only by the preseason games he played, the criticism from some of the Washington media about Morrisonn not being an overly physical player did seem justified.
We could use a solid stay-at-home defenseman so that Myers can roam all over the ice.
If he stays paired with Myers, the element from Tallinder's game that Morrisonn should best be able to replicate is his reach. It was an underrated part of why Myers and Tallinder were so difficult for opposing forwards to beat - they each had long wingspans with their sticks, coupled with agility. Morrisonn possesses both as well.
