You can't see Grabner possibly pushing out MacArthur? He had a good pre-season but he isn't exactly the most solid player..

So when do we find out who won the sweepstakes?

I wouldn't be surprised if he gets waived thru. He has great speed, but he's inconsistent and has been called on it in both junior and minor pro. Hasn't figured it out yet.

I bet you the pens put in a claim for him.. Honestly are Letestu and Tangradi better options than this kid? I say no, I think with his speed and shot he could have some good chemistry with Crosby or Malkin.

Ridiculous. Brutal move by the Panthers!

What the ******* is their management thinking? Or smoking?

Grabner has some solid raw talent. Develop him for a year more or so and he'll become the dangerous sniper and speed demon that any top 6 would gladly accommodate.

Grabner has never looked good in training camp, or been a particularly hot starter.

His speed is world class and he has a lethal shot, decent hockey sense, and the ability to find open ice. He created many chances in Vancouver, and as he gains experience those chances will start going into the back of the net. This move has serious potential to bite the Panthers on the ass.

I think the Flyers would take him for so little and be a RW for us on the 3rd line.

The first two teams in the waiver order are the Oilers (Tambellini connection) and Leafs (Nonis connection).

I'd be really surprised if neither of them decide to put in a claim for one of their former team's top prospects.

MPS - Horcoff - Eberle
Reddox/Stortini/Mac - Fraser - Grabner

Don't mind this at all.
I'm not coming into this thread to bash Cogs but I would hope Grabner is at least, a little better than Cogliano is. I mean, they're both great skaters, Cogs is better defensively (can't believe I'm saying that) and I would think Grabner is better offensively but what I've seen is from Manitoba and Vancouver and those are two teams filled to the brim with talent.

I'm praying that Chicago or Ottawa has a chance at him but I doubt it. I'd love to have him in Ottawa. Love the kid, love his explosiveness. ANYWHERE but Toronto and I'll be alright though.

That's what I was thinking. If they don't, no way he gets by Tampa.

If the Oilers pass on Grabner and Burke doesn't pick him up then he is nuts. He has been looking for a top six winger and here is a gift. He can play either wing, he's fast as hell and may just click with Grabovsky and Versteeg.
Funny, he was drafted right after Jiri Tlusty but has put up way better numbers. But it isnt hard to beat Tlusty's numbers.

Come on Burke!!!

This right here. This is almost by script exactly what happened last year with Grabner. He was positively awful in training camp. In fact, he's been positively awful in training camp pretty much every year of his career. Then, during his call up as an injury replacement, he went through spurts of looking all-world, including his hat trick game.

This is Michael Grabner. This is what young, streaky, reasonably one-dimensional snipers do. They look really amazing for a few games, and really awful for a few games. He's certainly not the answer to anyone's first line scoring woes, but waiver wire? After 6 pre-season games? That's crazy. That is crazy asset management. I can't help imagining this guy is going to be a reclamation project somewhere and make the Panthers look awfully silly for this.

I'm not sure where to check but I think the Leafs have reached their limit on contracts, don't quote me on that though.

If not, I don't see why Burke wouldn't pick him up.
Waive Mitchell and pick up Grabner.

That line had lots of chemistry at the end of the year, hence why I put him there.

Wow, this kid has really hit the skids. I felt sure he'd be a full-time NHL'er by now.

If Burkie doesn't roll the dice and give him a shot, either CBJ or NYI

Funny how Olesz is being given his 100th chance and Grabner didn't even really get one. I just don't get it. Olesz wasn't special in pre season. Why not waive him? No1 would picked him up and if they had Panthers would been happy. There has to be something else to this story. It just doesnt make any sense.

Oh yeah.. Were the Panthers.. nevermind..

His ceiling is about at Peter Prucha's level, so whoever gets him shouldn't be too excited. I just hope Toronto doesn't get him so we don't have to see a million "Value of Grabner + prospect" threads after he starts to disappoint.

Pretty disappointing that he couldn't stick in Florida, especially after they traded for him. Good for Tallon to not let that influence his decision though.

I don't really care who takes him, but I think Edmonton is a possibility. There's probably teams that could take a flier on him - I doubt Toronto is one of them. Maybe if Nonis thinks highly of him.
