He has to be put back on waivers, but can be sent down if nobody claims him (I'm pretty sure).

I would be okay with the Flames snatching him up and trying to sneak him back down when we're healthy... he might not be quite ready but he is more ready than some of our options with Langkow, Stajan, Moss, Kotalik and Stone out indefinitely

Probably not as bad as you say but I would be fine with a single shootout win as long as it was against Oilers... Just imagine his dad's reaction after that one

Grabner sure is overrated around here.

It's been eye-opening seeing Tambellini, he looks exactly like Grabner. Lots of chances, speed, but not much in the way of results. They're both fringe players. If anyone takes Grabner they're not getting much.
Hopefully Ballard gets his game together, and this trade will look even better.
Not to mention he will keep Luongo figured, always careful to duck.

No, I could not resist that shot. Frankly, I believe the Canucks may well stand at the top of the Western Conference this season and I love them all the more for it.

Half price? What is "half price" of waivers? That's not how it works.

Why wouldn't they at least trade him for a 2nd or 3rd?

See the Freddy Meyer pho/nyi situation a few years ago.

This has happened before.

Trust me.

nobody ever gets claimed on waivers anymore. every time some name gets put on there, we get the same reactions.

"obviously, he wont pass"
"there's no way xxxx wont take them"

and time after time no one bites.

he got put on waivers for a reason, and id bet there is a 95% chance he wont get picked up. everyone is at/near their roster limit, and most dont have a body they are willing to give away on waivers for grabner, which is why this is good timing for them to do it. he has to take a spot on their nhl roster right now, and they have to give up a body to get him.

how many teams have a guy on their roster today they would give away for grabner? the teams...not the fans. does grabner knock someone out of a top 6 spot for the leafs? cuz thats how burke builds his team, he isnt gonna want this kid on the 4th line right now and they would have to waive him to put him on the marlies.

that would be weird if the Canucks managed to claim him

He has skill to burn but mentally, he's not all there. He seems out of focus at times.

RT @kausatoday: Florida's Andrew Peters and Michael Grabner among today's NHL players placed on waivers.

Ah the HFBoards "experts" strike again. If he clears, about 97% of the board will be wrong, considering the poll on him.

There are plenty of teams that could use Grabner. $843,333 million for an annual salary wouldn't be too much to pick up.

That was re-entry waivers.

It's a very different situation than the one you described above.

There is not a chance in hell the Canucks pick up Grabner...if he can't crack the Panthers top 6 there's no way he does in Vancouver...Canucks are looking to clear out contracts not bring in a over hyped one dimensional prospect.

I'm positive you cannot just send a guy you claim off waivers to the A.

Am I wrong?

lol, this is probably the first waiver wire player i've seen most leaf fans want to grab.
Good God man, why can't you stop looking for reasons to insult us.

and if there is a thread on a player available through waivers you'd see 99% (which means everyone but the OP) says no.

good try tho!

Not sure why Oilers fans don't think we'd at least think of claiming him.

Eberle could play a few games in the A to start the year, If Grabner sucks waive him and call up Eberle.. Might as well take a chance on him, the kids got potential. If he plays good, look to trade Cogliano.

Yes, you can turn around and put him right back on waivers.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that the Canucks claimed Wellwood on waivers in 08, and then waived him themselves shortly thereafter.

You can add Joe Callahan to the title. He was waived too.
