I am arguing, Eminger was very good, what games were you watching? He was probably our most physical defenseman in pre-season.

We have 5 RD and 2 LD. Gilroy looked terrible at his time at LD last season.

I don't get it?

Congrats to Stepan for basically making the team, and for Sauer getting his long overdue shot at the big club.

Im sure this has been discussed somewhere in this thread, but Shane O'Brien is LD. Would serve a better 7th Dman purpose than Eminger. I have to think since he played with Torts b4 they are looking into it.

Torts mentioned something last night in pre game about "always looking at the wire and what other teams are doing". Maybe it was in ref to O'Brien

What is with all the Eminger hate? Malik wasn't even hated so much.

Some serious bias is going on here.

I mentioned this yesterday but could it be that they may try to trade Gilroy? I mean he was sought after.

Who knows what they are thinking.

Yeah you basically just proved you didn't watch any of the games or you are just trying to start ****. Eminger was absolutely horrid he literally did nothing good. If you are basing it on physical play than Valentenko was probably the most physical.

$1.6 million cap hit. Vancouver tried to trade him and had no takers.

I imagine they are working on some sort of move, they are probably going to try move a few extra pieces to make room for McD I honestly think he earned it. They also could shed some forwards and pick up a better 7th D.

Mcdonagh would have seen roughly 15 minutes on the 3rd pairing and would have been learning against better players. I am sure that would have been more of a benefit.
I do not doubt that MCD will see time on our team. But I have to respectfully disagree with keeping him up. I think - overall - this will help him learn to play the position more soundly.

As for Gilroy, I feel he's improved a lot this preseason. I feel defensively he's played a heck of a lot better than MDZ.

Sauer earned his position this year. He's done well. V-Tank did great too, but I think Torts was right at letting V-Tank and MCD learn him Hartford.

I'm sure Sauer is feeling pretty good but I doubt he's too comfortable.

McDonough and Valentenko are a handful of bad plays away.

It's the way it should be.

Congrats Mike. Make it stick.

Rozsival is so fragile and banged up that he doesn't even play physical anymore.

Gilroy never played physical and never will. For him to belong in NHL he has to be an offensive wizard, right now he is an offensive Necromancer with all the terrible decisions in the offensive zone.

they see a player you can sit in the press box for 50-60 games a year without screwing up his future with your franchise...since he has no future with this franchise.

smart cuts imho. Probably the same cuts i would make.

I'm happy for Sauer. He earned it. I understand Eminger being here, he'll be luck to get 30games. I understand Valentenko refining his game in Hartford for a little bit, and I fully expect him to be on our blue line full time next season. But Gilroy got his spot because of his past accolades. He's shown nothing this pre-season to warrant a spot on the team. McDonagh SHOULD be up here. At the very least, cut Eminger and let he and Gilroy split time.

Also, McD's favorite candy is m&m's. M&m's are ****ing delicious.

Physicality is not a sufficient argument to bring to the table when you're talking about one of only 3 top 4 dmen on the team.

This teams D without Rozsival , Girardi, or Staal is a horror show. All 3 of them are here for the time being.

Glad for Sauer, not so much for Gilroy or Eminger but I guess we will have to see where this goes.

The Rangers wanted McDonagh to make the team. He didn't fall on his face and the competition wasn't that much better than him. Sauer played his ass off. Good for him. He hasn't played a full season in his career.
