10/4/10 - Minnesota @ Ilves Tampere - 11:00 AM CDT - ????

Ilves is a very successful Finnish club with 16 championships although none of them have been in my lifetime. Right now they are near the bottom of the league but. They do not have any Americans or Minnesotans on their roster. Anyways, here's their logo. I guess it is a lynx since Ilves is the Finnish translation for it.

No clue what lineups are or if there will be a stream available (I doubt it), but if there is it will be updated. I have a sneaking suspicion though that Mikko Koivu, Antti Miettinen and Niklas Backstrom will play.

Good: The Wild might win a game.
Bad: The Wild still need to win a game.
Ugly: The Wild losing this game.

Reading/Viewing List:
-Russo Photos of the trip (Facebook)
-CircularTheory's prospect post on Granlund (HF)
-Wild and Theodore agree to terms on a one-year contract (TSN)
-2010-2011 Western Conference Preview (Down Goes Brown)
-Finally, Derek Boogaard scores a goal. No really, he did. But just when you think there's hope in the world for everyone and James Sheppard, the universe evened out with this.

The Wild should have no trouble winning this game. Ilves has the youngest, most inexperienced team in the league and they'll probably finish in the bottom of the standings. Some of their more experienced key players are also injured. But I'm thinking this could be a good a rehearsal for the Wild because I'm pretty sure young Ilves players will try really hard. Most of these guys have something to prove so it's not just an exhibition game for them. They want to win and they want to show everyone what they're made of.

* I think Ilves' oldest forward tonight will be a 27-year-old infamous Jesse Niinimäki who was the Oilers 1st round pick in 2002 (15th overall) and, of course, a complete bust. He actually finally became a decent/good SM-liiga player last year. It just took him a while...

Well now we'll see the difference between the worst NHL team and the worst SM-Liiga team. Not expecting a blow-out, since another SM-liiga team, Tappara, only won the Panthers by one goal, so the Wild should be able to hang in there too...

I'm guessing it will be a tight game that will be won in the last 5 minutes of regulation, 3-2. I think both teams have something to prove, and the big ice will be a challenge for the Wild. I think special teams will make the difference though. Can't predict one way or the other, but I'll go with the Wild winning because I'm hopeful.

I think Russo on Twitter is the only 'feed'.

EDIT: Ok, Jarick found another one.

It's because you can't bring beer to the stands in Finland, so people have to drink as many as they can during the intermission. It's hard work.

19-year-old D-man Jyrki Jokipakka, who has played only 2 men's games before tonight and hasn't even scored in SM-liiga, ties the game 1-1! That must be pretty sweet for him...

Nice, now Kobasew! This is a good period for the Wild...hopefully this will help restore any lost confidence from the previous pre-season games.

It's the preseason; does it still count as "snapping his streak?"
