Burrows-Kesler-Hansen was the third line for all of the first half of 08-09, basically until Sundin came aboard.

As others have said he'll (tamby) likely get a chance/ could still see some playing time in the near future or pretty soon. The guy has a great attitude and seems to want to play for us no matter what it takes, and he'll likely try to improve his game in the minors.

As for Schaefer, it is looking more and more like he might get an offer. Saw an interview with AV last night where he said something along the lines of Shaefer could have a 2nd or 3rd line spot on this team, but couldn't comment further because he doesn't negotiate the contracts. It basically sounded like if Gillis could make it reasonably work, AV was on board.

Not Shirokov. The not being in good enough shape thing is a kiss of death.

Yeah the Jarhead (Jannik-Alex-Ryan) line.

I read somewhere else that he was claimed by Tampa Bay. Can anyone deny or verify that for me. I really liked what I saw in the preseason. Schaefer, bleh. I really don't understand Vigneault sometimes. But he does have a good record.

It was the 'third line' but for all intents and purposes it was the second line. They played a lot more than Demitra-Wellwood-Bernier.

It's definitely the best line that is actually the third best line on the team since the lockout and maybe even before.

But going by that is so flawed because we've rarely even managed to have a competent 2nd line. Cooke - Chubarov - Letowski was great too, and I wouldn't take anything away from them just because they got more icetime than the Sedins and Klatt.

I think I prefer

Arvedson - Linden - Cooke

to the 3rd line we have now (Sedins-Carter got more icetime).

We haven't even seen the three of them play together yet... I like each of them individually but I'm not sure they're a great fit or have much of an identity. Hansen still just kind of flies around aimlessly all over the ice and picks up points, Malhotra is solid at everything but not great at anything, Torres isn't good enough defensively to make it a shutdown line. It IS pretty scattershot a line, IMO.

Pretty sure the early 90s saw some nice 3rd lines as well.

We have the best 'top 9' we've had for a long long time, maybe ever... how about that?

Arvedson wasn't on the team the same year as Carter.

Oh right.... But the Sedins were still getting more icetime than the 3rd line at that point, right?

If I'm not mistaken, Daniel's 54 point season?

Anyways, I think the icetime thing is flawed. Legit 3rd lines who are paired against opposition top lines are going to eat a ton of minutes.

Nice. I think he'll be back up this season. Heck, he might even be back up for Saturday with Tanner Glass being ill.

little tidbit in the province article on Peter Schaefer:

Quote:
“I'm fully confident Jeff will play games for us,” Gillis said (assuming he clears waivers). “He'll be the first guy we call up.”

Its a good move I think. Basically taking nothing and turning it into a 10% shot at something (Parent turning it around).

At one time he was considered a blue chipper and hes still only 23. Considering his biggest issue has been his health, who knows how things could go for him.

However it does raise the issue of how many defensemen can the moose actually have? I think they are starting to get all full up.

Rosters and space on July 1st is sooooooo different than October 5th. Don't be so sure he will be claimed. He did well at camp and Canucks will love him in Manitoba and a call up when needed.

Great news. As McKenzie said all players who were placed on waivers were cleared. Does that apply to Parent, or due to later posting date...it is unknown?

He'll be back for sure this year... and he'll light up the minors - the Moose are going to be damn good!

Me too. A lot of players I liked durring their draft years but went elsewhere are in our system now. I lump Torres with these two.
