A lot of the fans felt he should have dominated the OHL more.

They also questioned his effort level even when he was putting up almost a PPG average last year despite missing a good chunk of the season serving the rest of his suspension from the previous year.

DL is old school he's looking for toughness while everyone else is looking for speed and puck movement.
The Ducks did well with the physical play and fighting in 2007, and like another poster said, Philly took a lot of fighting majors.

There's a difference between a goon and a real fighter. The fighter picks his spots and doesn't hurt the team, the goon just gets instigators.

As long as Nolan is smart, he can fight and play physical and not take penalties while providing some talent off the 4th line. The days of Matt Johnson and Raitis Ivanans are over.

Btw, not sure if you've paid attention but the bulk of our prospects and younger players are pretty adept at moving the puck, even the gritty ones like Simmonds. It is possible to have both.

That's why they aren't on the team now. But other than maybe Clune, they all have legitimate NHL upside and can do way more than just fight. Even Westgarth.
